Didn't play well enough to earn a spot. Needs to play a few very good games in the WAFL to be considered.

JK had a press conference just before and said he should be right to go this weekend
Still reckon he would benefit from a rest TBH.
Leave Darling and Allen to be the big key forwards this week and bring in a small, seeing as its supposed to be wet and sh*t.

Give Kennedy a rest for one week and let Bubba play tagger on one of Geelong's accumulators like Guthrie whilst XON builds up form for a few weeks in the WAFL. Foley has shown that he's earned a spot in the side and out of Nelson and Cole, Nelson has shown more as a second tagger.

Forecast doesn't look too bad at this stage, only 40% chance of 0 - 0.4mm rain for saturday. I'd be more inclined to play him and drop Vardy for a small as he won't be needed against Geelong's ruck division, and didn't provide much anyway. We need our best team available on the park to win over there and we're missing almost our entire small forward brigade so I don't think anyone we'd bring in instead would have that much impact either, and would give the MC more inclination to leave Vardy in if they rested JK given how much they love going in tall.

Might be time for the club to start protecting some of our older boys from themselves IMO.
Tbh I'm not really buying JKs line anyway. We're always smoke and mirrors until the first ball is bounced. I reckon Ryan was injured before our injury report came out.
Not against JK putting his feet up and dodging the flight, but he does a lot of work messing with match ups and creating space even when he's not hitting the score board. Defending us is much easier when he's not playing.
Surely he can last another week or 2 and be rested against Freo or Hawthorn? Not sure if we can afford to be resting him when he says he's right to go after only 5 rounds of footy going into an 8 point game when we're 3 - 2 after dropping 2 games we shouldn't have.
Exactly, he doesn't have to be kicking 5 goals to be helping the team. It must create massive headaches for teams trying to defend all 3 of him, Darling and Allen and pretty much guarantees Allen gets a lesser opponent, and we all saw what that meant on the weekend.
With Geelong's weird shaped ground I wonder if we'll get the benefit of our long kick ins to the right flank being much more easily spoiled out of play, or if we'll kick a heap of the footy out on the full?
I have nothing to back it up but felt as though the last time we played there we kicked it OOF a heap in our back half.

Especially Shuey whenever he returns. Any sign of injury, he needs to be benched. Perhaps also give him a less demanding role, covering less of the ground.
I actually don’t mind what the club did with Ryan. Announcing both Ryan and and Petch in that injury report would have given the pies a bit more time to prepare

Williams is nowhere near getting a game. Jamieson is closer based on current form. Bailey needs a few more Beagles games to work up some form. Vardy stays in and hopefully lifts against the team that didn't want him.

I want Withereden to get a directive to go high rick for kick-ins. I would happily see the cats kick a goal if it did not work instead of predictable wide congested most likely too wide out on a full. Just get one on one and kick it to them and good luck. or play on and kick to the corridor. Keep them guessing. I remember from memory that's how Giants played them and won over there a few years ago. Took massive risks all day and the net result ended up in their favor.
Agreed, we're also the best contested mark team in the comp by a fair margin currently averaging 16 while Geelong are ranked 12th averaging 10. If we can exploit that and try and take a few in the corridor when coming out of defense it will go a long way to winning the game.

I recon we will tag Isaac Smith . Simmo always tagged him during hawthorn games . Perfect choice to be honest because he is never in the centre bounces on in the contest so all Nelson has to do is keep up
