This.

The calls for Mclean to be dropped this week are way off the mark.
Low TOG% has been an indication they’re out across this season so far, only 54% across 3 qtrs on Friday so I’d suggest it’s very likely he’s out.

I love Toby but not sure what he brings to our midfield rotation right now, we’re trying to move Macrae out so moving McLean in just seems a bit counter productive IMO.

McLean had one kick 2 minutes into the match, then had one more kick for the match until he was subbed off.

Not really saying he should or shouldn't be picked. But people criticising others for saying he should be dropped are also off the mark. Fans have a right to be critical of a player who didn't influence the game at all.

Kicking Efficiency last year
West 52.6%
McComb 53.8%
Hannan 71.7%

He is worse than both yes and neither of the other 2 should be near the team and West is no different.

(On a positive note West is going at 100% by foot this year)
Hannans 71% came about the same way West's 100% has...F all games

I think what we currently have is basically our best 22. This week obviously Libba is out, hopefully Baz can come back in. McLean holds as that fifth mid in the rotation, but is the first one out when Libba is back. Would be happy to rotate the sub around a bit, so this week I would be keen to see some of Cleary again.

FB Taylor Duryea, Liam Jones, Tim O'Brien
HB Bailey Dale, Alex Keath, Ed Richards
C Bailey Williams, Marcus Bontempelli, Oskar Baker
HF Bailey Smith, Aaron Naughton, Caleb Daniel
FF Cody Weightman, Rory Lobb, Arthur Jones
FOL Tim English, Jack Macrae, Adam Treloar
INT Jason Johannisen, Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, Anthony Scott, Toby McLean
SUB Luke Cleary

I'd much rather give McLean some inside mid minutes with Libba out than bring in West for that.

In: Baz, McNeil
Out: Libba, A.Jones
Jones to be sub.

A firing Smith and we had our best team in Friday night.

No one who missed is a clear best 22 player, significantly better than who played.

We have a few younger players who as they develop will likely move into best 22, just not sure it will be this year.

Smith in for Libba and no other change.

If Smith not ready Mc Neil to start and a new sub

Baz in for Libba. McNeil into the 22 and McLean to sub, I like what McNeil showed in the pressure forward role.
This is it for me too.
I really like McNeil, just shows 'something'. Sound defensively. Only 21 so plenty of development left

Not really dropped. Just rather he play 4 quarters of VFL than 1 quarter of AFL as sub. As I mentioned in the post, happy to rotate the sub around a bit so players don't miss too much footy.

Imagine if Hannan or McComb has such numbers...

McLean, I've been a huge fan, but he has lost what speed he had, which makes him a huge defensive liability.

McSteal gets a start for mine. And please put Khamis in. Such a beautiful field kick in the backline, which we currently lack.
