I for one look forward to JJ’s return being vindicated by 4 goals, 3 in the last when the game is already over, all while being defended by Sam Frost or someone nobody has heard of.

Good point. Unfortunately I think Tex will be he biggest loser from having Jenkins back in the forward line.
Well Walker has kicked 1 goal in total against the cats, hawks and wce. We need someone to kick our goals. Whoever it is deserved to be picked.

Wow...so Tex gets a game.

That’s interesting.
He was never getting dropped sadly. Another week as bad as that and the drums will beat very loudly.

To think we should have won a game against the reigning premiers without either KPF firing a shot.

The Cats and Hawks games are irrelevant as they were both playing. As soon as Jenkins was out of the team Tex looked much better - apart from last weeks performance.

I think regardless of what you think of DMac I don't I have ever seen him shirk a contest when it was his turn to put his body on the line. You have to respect that.

Not for a very long time at least, brave (and arguably as tough) as they come as a player.

Potentially why we've held on for so long, that stuff tends to be what holds back outside midfielders from stardom. Unfortunately being able to reliably produce offensively game to game which a lot of middling outside players can do has never happened for Mackay.

A real shame.

Yes he definitely should have been.

Only the 5th ranked forward in the AFL over R5-10. Bloody disgrace.

Hopefully if he drops to 6th we’ll finally get rid of him

The gap between his best and worst is too big.

I expect he and JJ to have good games this week, they'll need it.

Did we hit the panic button? Genuine question
Our direction is clear

Any dabbling with development or future has been shelved.

It's a full bore assault on 8th spot.

I don't think our selections over the last month have shown a clear direction. Inconsistent, competing philosophies.

Got the majority of his goals against Gold coast, St Kilda , Powaa and Lions. Not exactly heavyweight teams and all likely to finish out of the 8 except for possibly brisbane. Not sure why his performance of 1 goal is irrelevant against hawks and cats because Jenkins was in the team. So he only performs if a certain player is not picked. Never heard of any other player in our team who only performs if a certain player is not picked. When your relying on performance if selection is tailored towards what's best for the player instead of the team you know you have a problem.

Reid probably told the selection committee we need to give Carlton at least Pick 10 or worse. :drunk:

The ox is slow but the earth is patient.

We are not gelling right now, but I wouldn't be giving up the season just yet. This is a winnable game, and when Matt Crouch comes back we will have a strong team. If we start to gel a top four finish is attainable.

If we lose the next two matches .......then it's time to select for 2020.
I agree. This season is far from over yet. Premierships are won in September not May. We're certainly not playing our best football but I don't think we're that far off the mark. This next block of games before the bye will be crucial though.

Will we manage to take McHenry or Jones up there as travelling emergency so that DMac, Dougie, Knighter and Wilson get full games?

McHenry will play SANFL given he's missed so many.

If we take Jones, he won't play. If we take Mackay, there'll be a late out.

What's the bet Gibbs' back spasms flare up and he misses anyway. Boy oh boy wowee.

How did we go winning that premiership last year when we didnt win a game in May?

If the season is being a premiership contender, it's over. We've not beaten a team with any serious credentials yet this year, and we won't.

That's probably the worst thing of it all.

Even if you disagreed with it, you'd have far more respect for them if they were capable of conducting themselves as if they have a clear, understood, intelligible philosophy on football and selection.

Instead we have a mishmash of rapidly varying approaches, as they desperately scramble around looking to save the deck chairs on the titanic.

Will say it's strange Gibbs was told he needs to work on his game when he was dropped but then proceeds to play 0 SANFL games to prove he has improved
I'd suggest that we've recognised we need a mature body to replace mrouch. Hope gibbs can lift

The club has really embarrassed itself with its selections over the last few weeks. Not bringing JJ in last week, and dropping Gibbs only to bring him back in without playing an SANFL games is just inept.
This week is just an admission of that point.

Agree on JJ, Himmelberg could barely run so I am not sure how the coaches couldn't see this during training, probably because he only had a "light" training I suspect.
