Preview Changes vs North

It is bizarre but if Shaw had to come in, I'm glad it was for McKernan.

This would be pretty bloody frustrating to all those players who have shown consistent form in the SANFL. Since his return from injury, Shaw's disposal count has been in the single digits. Out of all our guys playing in the SANFL, his form has been the worst. It's a real head scratcher.
I think Shaw is class and they know it. He's with the Bays who are a basket case so maybe they see it as more beneficial just to get him back where they know he belongs to find some touch .

No issues with this

I like Shaw as a player. When he's not injured he goes alright.

That said, his stats in the SANFL in the last few weeks have been diablolical.
Sando said he was playing BP on muddy tracks

I have a feeling that Johnston will be our relief ruck this week.
Then he will get dropped for being a poor ruckman...

So the only ruckman we have playing is Jacobs who has been poor all year and has especially been smashed by Goldstein so we drop his support (who was actually decent when we played North earlier this year). Instead we bring in Shaw who has been sub-par in the SANFL. Lyons for Sloane I don't have a problem but McKernan for Shaw is one of the most puzzling decisions of the year.

I think many of us have been on the Shaw train for quite a while, though his disposal is vastly overrated.

Certainly going forward Shaw > Otten...all comes down to injury.

I applaud his selection, it's just the other outs and retentions that baffle me.

Perhaps we are tanking to move up in the 1st & 2nd round picks for a quality South Australian... ;)

The selectors have squibbed it again. Can't wait to watch Jacobs lumber around again this week. McKernan would've been far more value in ruck.
Why are so many people parroting this rubbish? McKernan is a useless ruckman - and that's competing against other teams' 2nd ruckmen. Pitting Jacobs against Goldstein is probably a losing scenario. Pitting McKernan against him is a disaster looking for somewhere to happen.

Vader, did you actually watch either of the Crows last 2 games v Roos?

If so, you would have to be the worst judge on the board!

What a joke, Harper on AA...laughable double standards at selection.

I'd like them to tell Jacobs to win his position this week or gtfo.

Ditto Thompson but we know it won't happen.

Oh and dear Nathan has been superb...WTF.

I quite like Harper, but he genuinely seems to be dumb.

McKernan dropped; Otten stays?

Absolute dickheads.

They have no idea.

Which part do you object to? I accept that Goldstein will beat Jacobs. Nothing will ever convince me that Smack is an AFL footballer - ruckman or forward. He's just a great lumbering nothing of a footballer.

I object to your statements of fact which are completely ignorant if you actually watched a game - particularly live. You trash McKernan when Jacobs has been worse!

To be fair to Harper I don't think he's on the selection committee, must be pretty hard selling some of our crappy selections this year.

Yes, comparing players who have less than 5 games is fair:rolleyes:.

It's O.K. to let a KID rip it up in the SANFL for a couple of years but when we eventually play them (around about their 21st birthday) then we can say, gee another debutant. The fact that Mitch Grigg will be eligible for the rising star next year is nothing to brag about.

What we need to do is to get as many quality KIDS up to 50 games before their 21st birthday.

I think you are just overlooking the fact we have a squad of 40 players + Rookies. While in a perfect world you could argue as you draft them you should expect by their 2nd and 3rd years on the list the club should be playing them if they are quality. That's a perfectly sound thought process. However its a professional sport and one where we have a lot of different circumstances. The one which your arguing only applies in a rebuilding phase logically when you are searching and exploring new combinations of players and developing them into certain roles and senior players are few and far between. Port was a classic example of blooding lots of new talent. When your shooting for finals and we were up until the Port game, blooding every youngster on your list and giving them bucket loads of game time isn't a high priority. We spent the year exhausting every combination of established AFL players we could and sadly nothing worked for us.

Its a result I blame more on the senior players who spent the year training well but playing lazy on game day, with the few odd good games thrown here and there. I have no doubt this has embarrassed Sando and the coaching group hence why Reilly, Johncock, Petrenko and Porplyzia have all be dropped this season among others. I think Sando will have a good look at his list at seasons end and I expect a few senior players will get moved on. Definatly would like to see Grigg play a full game. Maybe put white as the Sub

Meh, who cares.

Jacobs has been shit this year.

SMcK might not be any good, but he's still better than Jacobs.

I don't think anyone overrates it, it really is a problem for him. Hopefully it's to do with his hamstrings, and as he gets healthier he will improve
