Ayce Cordy was the answer to our ruck woes earlier in the
season, i could not help but notice he has played KPD in
the last couple of VFL games. You wonder whether Bevo
has been preparing him for Big Ben Brown with the
Knowledge that come the hour here comes the man.

I will show myself out !o_O

After watching the game yesterday I cannot understand how people are suggesting Talia should be dropped before Hamling, the vast majority of Kennedy's goals were on Hamling, Hamling is a 3rd tall defender at best.

Changes for me

In Roughead, M Boyd, Picken, Hrovat, T Boyd

Out Pearce, Smith, Jong, Hamling unless Morris is injured, Biggs

And if Campbell injured Minson in.

I haven't paid much attention to North, but I bloody hate losing to them. What are their biggest strengths and how will they give us trouble?

If I may be so bold as to comment on your board ladies and gents...

When we are on (like most of yesterday) we are quite effective in defending well inside our D50. Yesterday Freo had 53 inside 50's for 23 scoring shots, 9 of those scoring shots in the first. We are also effective in scoring efficiently when playing well. In the last 5 weeks our effectiveness in this area has improved, scoring from around 50% from inside 50's to 54.4% against Freo and 57.7% against the Saints the week before.

We have 7 players with 20 or more goals with out three talls of Petrie, Brown and Waite being complemented by our small forwards and half forwards in Harvey, Higgins, Thomas and Nahas really well. All of our talls are capable of kicking a bag and work really well together. All are capable of hitting up to the wings and standing in the square so that flexibility is great. We also have the option of swinging Ziebell and Cunnington forward who are more than capable of having an impact.

When we play well we attack very similar to you guys, looking to get out the back and into space. When that happens we look really slick and quick. When we look slow, and this is something that is concerning as it has happened in every game we have played recently, it is because our defensive efforts off half forward and midfield expose us. Teams then get around us and make us look second rate, which then puts our defence under significant pressure. This is my biggest concern against the Dogs. If our pressure drops off at all your team have the capability of making us pay big time because our defence has looked vulnerable when the shield of a deep lying midfield is removed. Space is not their friend.

However, given the performance of North yesterday, it seems our defensive application is now at a high water mark. Structurally I think that we are exceptionally well set up, so if we can maintain the pressure in the contest the structure in place will stand up. We, like you guys, have little trouble scoring, so if we play a full game I think our teams ability to stick to this structural set up and play within its parameters will see us overcome the Dogs. That said, given the flakey nature of our team I am not confident that this will be the case and am very concerned about the Dogs ability to get us on the rebound.

Their forward line is a combination of talls and whippet like smalls Petrie,
Waite, Brown, Nahas, Harvey, Thomas (may get dropped, was shite ).
Their mids are a combination of bruisers and good users and their ruck
would look good in a dogs jumper. Their backline struggles with genuine
talls of which we don't have any (yet) sorry Tom. And lastly they love
the roof over their heads as much as we do. God i hope we beat the
Brisbane Lions and the Pies do us a favour against the cats.

Only had the 9 touches. We need to be picking our best side this week and shape our finals team, Smith just isn't near out best team with everyone fit.
Why does everyone expect this kid to be a star first up, in a game like this? IMO he should have been brought in for a lower-key game so he could find his feet, eg v Bris. It's a massive step up from VFL to AFL, especially against a top team over in WA, notorious for knocking us around.

Out: Jong, Campbell, Redpath, Smith, Talia
In: Picken, Roughhead, T Boyd, M Boyd, Roberts

Jong just can't find the footy. He's lost all confidence since his injuries early in the year, and doesn't seem to be attacking the hard ball in the same way. I think his biggest struggle may be getting on top of his own self doubt.

Jordan Kelly is the only rookie player not to have played all
year and funny enough in the last few weeks his form is
probably the most consistent of any of them. Time has
come to unleash the beast and play Jordan Kelly and while
they are at it play Caleb Daniel on Boomer as rumour has it
he has been lying about his height for years.

I think we have had our full quota of rookies, Kelly lost out in the promotion stakes to Smith.

Minson in for Campbell. Bev didnt even mention Roughead when asked about the ruck options at the presser. He did mention Boyd.

I didn't expect him to star but I also expect he was given a game for reward for effort and not because we see him as best 22. I wasn't unhappy with his game at all but at the end of the day we have 2 rounds left until finals and I think we should be playing our team we want to play in finals.

The backline should be under pressure, 37 scoring shots from 51 inside 50s is farcical.

Did you see the way it came in? Not a lot of pressure further up the field. Yesterday was probably the first game all year I've seen our defenders so isolated. While they weren't great I'd say the lions share of the blame came from our midfield.

Was at the norf game yesterday.

They're well drilled around the stoppages. Cunnington and swallow have quick, clean hands, to release dal santo, Gibson, Harvey etc.

Their 3 talls are athletic and mobile. Ben brown is their most dangerous IMO. Roughead is the perfect match up for him.

Not brilliant off half-back. Thomson isn't the player he once was, furritto is "meh". Atley gives them something and Tarrant marks the ball well, but it's not a backline to destroy a team on the rebound.

Nice, solid, mature team, but with the right changes, we should win IMO.

Haven't watched the game, but surely Biggs has played well enough to be allowed a shocker (which I'm assuming he had yesterday) without getting axed.

Fronk, I though Biggs was pretty average yesterday. He made a couple of really bad errors, in his defence though the back line was under a lot of pressure due to the lack of winning contested ball in the midfield. He also gives good run out of the backline and links we'll when there is space. I would give him another chance next week, I don't think Bev would see him as the biggest problem yesterday. Jong however is under the pump, didn't see him win a single contested ball when playing in the midfield.

I know it's a lot of changes but three changes are forced and I think we need to bring in fresh legs. I'd be naming a team as close to what we want in the first final as possible.

Out: Morris (inj), Grant (inj), Campbell (inj), Smith, Pearce, Talia, Redpath
In: M.Boyd, T.Boyd, Roberts, Roughead, Picken, Hrovat, Minson

B: Wood, Roberts, Hamling
CHB: Murph, Roughead, Boyd
C: Macrae, Wallis, Hunter
CHF: Stringer, Crameri, Dahlahus
F: Dickson, Boyd, Daniel
R: Minson, Bonti, Picken,
Int: Hrovat, JJ, Biggs SUB: Jong

Roberts - Petrie
Hamling - Waite
Roughead - Brown
Wood - Higgins
Boyd - Harvey

Looking at that I think we match up very well on them.

Some interesting matchups there

Yeah stefoid you are right, it was a little tongue in cheek to be honest.
Iv'e got nothing and am still a little flat to be honest even the VFL team
had a staggering number of inside 50's (74) and lost.

Agree backline was under pressure but it was due to West Coast midfield dominance and our lack of pressure up the field.

Yes the midfield didn't run hard enough defensively but you can't allow a forward constant space and the opportunity to lead at the ball without any body contact.
