I understand what you are saying but Archie87 makes a really good point by saying he does his most damage when left alone.

Like showdown one last year.

I would sit Shaw on him as a tag. Cut him out if the game.

Happy with that as well, Shaw is also very good in the air

I'd play him ASAP to add that lightning speed.

I don't think we have enough pace to worry any team at the moment.

Play him and see if he can add that X factor.

Shaw should be able to go with the Hoff pretty much everywhere he goes too, not just when he's up forward, but if he goes down back or off a wing even. The only time he wouldn't would be when he takes a ruck contest.

Hand hoff the showdown medal now

B cey rutten laird
Hb Brown talia Smith
C Sloane Dangerfield Kerridge
Hf Douglas podsiadly Wright
F Johnston mckernan Betts
R Jacobs b crouch Lyons
I grigg Thompson jaensch mackay

In Douglas laird cey
Out Martin porplyzia shaw

I like this if radar isn't ready. Also, will be awesome if Dougie is back!

Needs more M.Crouch though and I don't see the point in a non-impact sub like Mackay

Conservatism.

We have been like that since Blighty left.

Cornes, Shaw and blight got games into the kids.

Ayres and Craig lived on that legacy and Sanderson is afraid to drop some players.

Blight wasn't a big believer in bringing blokes back through the SANFL either.

Rehn, Modra, Vardy.... all came straight back from serious injuries - all had an immediate impact.

This idea of getting "touch" back via the SANFL is the biggest load of bullshit ever perpetrated on football.

Exactly. Fit enough to get scragged, tripped, mashed to death in the SANFL by less skilled B grade heroes, fit enough to have same done in the AFL with less chance of recurring injury. SANFL might be slower, but clumsy trips and tackles and thumps and pushes abound and my view is that it is easier to get re-injured coming back through the SANFL. As far as getting touch back, the moderate skill level in the SANFL of the team mates around you make it even harder to get in the game and get some touch. Fit enough? Good enough? Straight back in please.

Having rewatched the replay a couple of more thoughts leading into Port clash.

-Our midfield was disgraceful. Absolutely embarrassing. Not once did we look like we got on top or put sustained pressure on. Thommo and Sloane had shocking games. So below par it wasn't funny.

-Intensity and aggression, not enough of it. Hopefully going into the Showdown this will automatically come out.

Must find a way to get more numbers aroudn the ball and win the contested possession better.

Cameron on today's efforts will be in their discussion but im still not sure we can have him in just yet. Crouch yes as IMO hes already a bit above SANFL level. He may replace Martin although thats more likely to be Laird or Radar.

Douglas comes in if hes fit and the medicos have given him the all clear yesterday to resume full training. Hartigan/CEY might push Shaw out but I reckon he gets another week.

Plenty of options to ponder and that will only grow as everyone bar VB and Hendo come back

Was this the good news one of the TV stations was advertising before their 5..6 o'clock news?
Fanbloodytastic! Not that Douggy is the best player in the AFL but he is a gun for us and was sorely missed against cats.

Cant find any audio but he definitely said the all clear was given. Straight back in if true.

IN: Douglas, Reilly

OUT: Lyons, Martin

I think they will give laird one more reserves game and Cameron and Crouch Jn will have to wait.

B: CEY/Shaw Rutten Brown
HB: Smith Talia Laird
C: Sloane Thompson Kerridge
HF: Johnston McKernan Douglas
F: Betts Podsiadly Wright
R: Jacobs Dangerfield B. Crouch
I: Grigg Jaensch M. Crouch Lyons/Mackay
Emg: Mackay/Lyons Shaw/CEY Porplyzia

Depending on Dougy getting the approval to play.
Laird back in for sure.
Junior to make his debut next to his bro.
Porps, Martin dropped and possibly Mackay or Lyons and Shaw might if they opt for CEY.
Cameron might be a few weeks away with it being a tough spot to a get a gig as a small forward with Betts and Wright.

Martin would definitely get dropped if it is true that Dougy is given the all clear.

Just watched the Hawks - Mitchell getting tagged hard; numerous Hawks players smashed Rockliff constantly to make him earn it, make it hurt.
Dunno why none of our players could do that to Guthrie for Danger :(

Conspiracy theory maybe

I wonder if Sando didn't instruct his players to be aggressive or apply a hard tag in Selwood based on his friendship?

Some hard questions will need to be asked why we didn't do it last week if we do it vs Port? We have to put a hard tag in Boak or Hartlett.

I would expect every player to make a point of correcting this on Saturday. Port will believe this is how to beat us and will obviously try it with extra intent to hurt.

If there is an over correction from us it could add to what will already be a very heated game.
