Round 1 of Season 30 started off closer than what many would've liked and we've come away with the 4 points! So let's look at who did well in the positions they were given.

Was very much a full-team effort, plenty of the ball getting shared about with harry the Milestone Man given the Ruck-Rover spot early in the game to keep his streak against the Hawks going, while Smoooothy got harry's ruck spot which saw him almost be the top-scoring bench player of the week. Also, props to Randomizor for the being the round's Best right Forward Pocket.

Probably shouldn't be writing a mini-summary of the game before the person who knows what they're doing does their's. If it's 1 thing I can't do, it's use the English language.

    Yay us.


    Well we kicked off the season in style yesterday, with a nailbiting finish over a fast finishing Hawks outfit seeing us open our account with a thrilling 2 point win at home to celebrate vice captain harry000 's 50th SFA game.

    Knowing donuts, he'll still be celebrating somewhere staring glumly at some crew in a random kitchen somewhere drinking straight vodka from a mug after hours and hours of relentless massage trains.

    In perhaps the most fitting tribute of the day, second year Wazza iGNITER paid homage to the vice skip with a touching personal tribute, as he honoured the great man with his stat line.

    The win sees us sitting sixth after round one, and for the second year running, we've started off the season with a heroic win against the Hawks, which I hope is not an indication of how this season pans out.

    After a first half blitz saw us cruise to a 28 point lead at the main break, the Hawks produced a near carbon copy of our first half themselves as they threatened to overrun us, with FR's settling goal mid way through the final term proving to be the sealer.

    The milestone man harry000 (17 touches, 9 tackles, 2 goals) was near best afield in his 50th, with second year star Tonga Bob (25 touches, 2 goals) continuing the rich vein of form that saw him earn an All-SFA berth in his rookie season, while S30 rookie FootyGuy13 (23 touches, 7 marks, 1 goal) was sensational on debut as we looked to have uncovered another young gun. Games record holder Smoooothy (15 hitouts, 19 touches, 1 goal) was fearsome as he came from the bench into the ruck early and was dominant, easily winning his ruck duel with The Jesus.

    Full forward NaturalDisaster (4 goals) impressed up forward once again as he looks to lead the attack in S30, while BEEG (19 touches, 1 goal) proved his versatility in the engine room in his first up effort in a new midfield role. Veteran zackah (14 touches, 8 marks) was lively up forward, as was another S30 rookie chelseacarlton (13 touches, 1 goal), who joined FG13 in kicking a goal on debut.


    For the guys new to the club or have just never voted before, each week we vote for the top 5 performers of the week from our squad, with 5 votes being BOG, and these votes are then tallied at the end of the season for awarding our club best and fairest award, the Frankston Rover Medal, in honour of our inaugural skipper and founder.

    Thirty seasons huh, a true testament to Mobbs for keeping this league going for so long. Looking back to early seasons, the league was very little to begin with. Not many players, not many games, not many posts, but fast-forward to today and there is 12 teams with over 300 players playing each...
