I'm very satisfied with our location, it's top notch.

I just want to confirm do we actually own the precinct though?

To the best of my knowledge Melbourne Park trust has the rights to the precinct.

I'm on the fence with this move because I think a number of posters have overlooked that the move isn't to benefit Hawthorn in 2020, but in 2060, 2080 & 2100. Future boards won't have to consider a move for the next century and Waverly doesn't cater for what they need any longer.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear us purchasing a similar parcel of land in the short term. I think the key difference is we won't need to develop for some time.

The olympic park centre is perfect really, for both location and the ability to upgrade as we go.

Already since taking the place over it's had 2 major refurbishments and there's no reason why when needed we can't upgrade the facilities again.

I'd rather be 100m from the MCG then 100m from Moorabin Airport.;)

We occupy Crown land, managed by the Melb & Olympic Park Trust. We presumably have a long lease, and also a reasonable degree of self determination in our use of the place, but would still be answerable to the Trust and Public Land managers, and there are restrictions on what we can do.

Memories of collingwoodland
Oh man, everytime I get reminded of that I laugh and cringe at the same time. Big Al almost killed the club off over paying for those houses across the street.:drunk:

And same land now worth mega millions.

Not really sure why all these clubs want 2 or more training fields. We only need one that's the same dimensions as the MCG. It's our home ground and where finals are played.

Every club wishes they had their facilities where ours are for post match recovery. As for space for fans again we are right next to the MCG so maybe the community centre can be used for pre match functions.

Imagine a hot day in pre season where the Hawks players are busting their gut running and struggling for air, only to cop of mouthful of stink from the tip. Not good at all

Don't envy the Hawks at all training next to a tip 40 km from there home ground lol it will be like the Saints and Seaford all over again

Eddie will be choking on his weetbix reading about the Hawks' plans for even greater domination, with extravagant facilities. Stuff 'em I say.

We win hands down for location. They'll never beat that. And size isn't everything, it's the quality and function of the facilities that counts. You can only have 40+ players on your list, and there is a tax on footy dept spending. So we have to be clever and creative with the space we've got. Employ good design. Be technologically advanced. Make the space work for us. We are doing that with the Community Centre. Our oval is the size of the G. What else do we want or need? I trust the club to advance us in the right direction, as they have done over the last 15 years. Dingley shmingley. Who cares?
