Sorry to intrude, didn't want to make a thread but....

Whats the go with Brett Meredith? Is he a contracted player next year?

Are they looking at trading him? or a future with the swans?

Dont think any other clubs would be intersted in Meredith

I was thinking he may get delisted at the end of the year

Sooo... completely out of curiosity, what's the latest on Lewis Johnstone? Adelaide boy and I think he's a bit of a talent, but hasn't played much for the Swans. Has he been injured? Just not come on how you expected?

I wouldn't mind Port having a look at him. Not sure what we'd give up.

He re-signed about a month or so ago for 2 years

His first season (2009) was ruined by injury (foot injury)
So then 2010 was his first proper season, played about 20 games in the reserves, was pretty good
I think there were some attitude problems with him (mainly towards training) there waqs an article the week he made his debut against north where Mcveigh was talking about it (over his issues now)

Main reason he is not getting a game in the team is because we would need him to play as a full forward but he is not strong enough for that role. Right now he can play mainly as a HFF or HBF

He ain't going anywhere

He wont be delisted with this weak draft but yes he is very very tradeable right now.

Id be surprised if he was on Melbourne's radar though.

Western Bulldogs might want him, they want all our crap.

Can't be f***** going through 40 pages....Xavier Ellis, how old? Worth a punt? I think so if he's being overlooked by the Dawks!

Sorry to intrude guys but was just wondering what has happened with Malceski this year?

And do you think he would be up for trade? or would it be preferable to retain him and hope he regains 2010 form?
In all honesty, I think that Malceski isn't in the side at the moment because it's Kennelly's last year. I think it's too many similar type players if we go into games with Kennelly, Mattner, Malceski and Shaw. Shaw as seen last night has been brilliant and Mattner lays some great tackles and has turned into a pretty solid player. I'd say if Hanners goes out next week, Mal will probably come in and probably play a sub role with him maybe playing forward a bit. In answer to your question, I don't think they'd actively seek to trade him but if offers were put forward then he wouldn't be considered 'untouchable'.

How much would you guys would give for a player like Goddard or Dal Santo? Both come out of contract soon, and the Saints may want to get something for them before GWS has a chance.

I suspect it could have more to do with a niggling injury. That's based only on my own assumptions. I just couldn't imagine any other reason he would be coming in and out of the team so much.

I have to agree with the old fella ;) here.

Kennelly is not been given a charmed sentimental run, Malecski's last games have been below par and heh has not been able to get any run.

He's not playing because of form/injury or a combination of both.

I could imagine the scenario with missing matches he would entertain a trade if missing senior games is frustrating him as he took the LARS option to return to senior football quickly.

Malceski was very good in the last game he played and then was dropped undeservedly.

Thats why I think it has to be a niggle. He may not have been in full flight this year but his form hardly warranted being dropped before others in the team.

Yeah I think a lot of people underestimate his importance to the team. At his best I would have him in our top 5-6 players, so definitely wouldn't be trading him based on that. We wouldn't get anywhere near his true market value anyway after coming off his second knee reco. I can remember people saying that we should trade him after he struggled to regain form after his first reco, which was a ridiculous suggestion, as he proved with his form last year.

In all honesty, Saints probably have a better shot at a premiership than us. I think whilst our list is in quite good shape, it has it's limits.

Not anymore they don't. They look tired, beaten and at the edge of their limitations.

We wont see the Saints challenge for another 5-6 years imo.

People thought the same about Hawthorn last year. I don't see that much dissimilarity between their lists at the respective times. Saints didn't have a very good run with injuries and they were probably quite affected by the Gilbert/Riewoldt scandal.
