I didn’t mind it. Was a fun watch at times. The big dogs bossed it.

You replace Fyfe, Banfield, Sharp, Draper and whoever with Switta, Young, Pearce, Deadly, Walker, Simpson, maybe Walters, Darcy and we have a serious team.

I actually think MJ is getting better all the time. He’s no star but he’s AFL quality & I think he’s getting better at moving the ball on quicker.
Great to have Driz back.
Voss is a unit.

I enjoyed the game.
Oh & Caddy is a star.

Top notch effort by the ground staff , apart from a faint outline of the in goal you couldn’t even tell origin was there last night

Crappy game to watch , so much chippy chippy bullshit ….. mostly by us

The best thing they could do is extend the 15m kick minimum to 20m to make the games more interesting also umps are shit at judging distance so do the checkerboard mowing pattern on every ground in 20m squares to help them out

We are very lucky we have been kissed on the dick by the fixture because it sure looks like we are doing our usual month of utter crap after the bye

Lol I see a lot of very vocal paid up members of Fyfe-Nation moonwalking like Michael Jackson in here

Reality sucks sometimes

It happens on here all the time. Cox rips the hammy from his bone, doesnt play for a year: oh hes useless, send him to SA.
Switta is injured for months: “most overrated player to have ever been rated elite”. Then he plays a few matches and runs into form and now we say hes a must have in the side.

Same with Hodor and Fyfe: its unwise to write off good players who have basically been injured for months on their first few games back, as they are still building. The game is do hard and margins are so fine, if you are off by 10% you look like a muppet.

Yes, maybe they should be building form at Peel and yes, maybe Fyfe will not make it back, I dont know but I do know you cant tell after 5 quarters of footy.

If he remains injury free, we should know after say another 6-8 games, maybe some have to be at Peel.

Frederick is so bad and should be dropped every week which is funny because he’s also second in our goal kicking
He’s on track for a career best year for goals. Currently on 19. Averaging 1.46 goals a game. He plays all remaining games, will end up with 32.

He’s such a funny player. At his best he can be elite. Just goes missing nor isn’t in the right spot.

The forward line is connecting well though. Would like minimal changes in that regard. Dudley in for Banfield and Walters can have a sub cameo. Really need Switkowsi, poor bugger. He was humming and back to his best

Once again this board more depressing than the losing one. We won every quarter. Equal highest goal tally of the season.

Did we leave some out there? Yes
Were there some bad performances? Yep

But FMD, 5 wins in a row is nothing to sniff at

5 players starred
5 players were shocking.

It was a funny game, but we need to improve depth

If i got given the FT score yesterday before the game i would have taken it.

Banfield is & always be a concern mixed in with good & horrible moments.

Sharp is getting my attention more with his poor kicking. Honestly that one with a paddock in front of him and it ended up in the stands with Amiss basically already out in front of his opponents was horrendous.

A lot of bagging of Fyfe didn't help Kane Cornes was there to stick to knife in every chance he got.

On the bombers gee they have a had mare when they picked McGrath at pick 1 what were they getting. He isn't a mid and isnt a KPP.

Maybe the fact he has played 170+ game and probably play another 50-100 will justify it.

But gee what impact does he have on games.

Archie Perkins copped a ribbing as well last night. Was he the bloke that refused to be drafted interstate. He might have too if he wants to save his career.

Solid win, but man that was frustrating. Our top players are as good as any in the competition, but our bottom end is still way off I think. Hopefully we start getting some troops back before finals.

Players who are not physical enough (see, I didn't call them soft)

Sharp
Freddie
Draper

Players whose skills or decision making are not (yet) at AFL level

Banfield
Erasmus
Johnson

Legends of the club who are just too slow / unfit to play a full game

Fyfe 😢

No team can field 23 superstars, but the best teams don't carry that many passengers / liabilities. If we can get them performing better or start replacing them with better options we are in this up to our necks.

good to get the win, even against depleted oppo. on paper, that should've been 10 goals.

but there was one 10 minute section in the 3rd that was so bad (from both teams, but us specifically) that one of my companions at the pub left. it was just too Dockery. he couldn't bear it.

luckily, the 15 minutes after that were what they were and secured us the win.

but we still have to work on focus and playing a consistent 4Qs.

onward and upward.

Just another reminder, your bottom six will kill you.

Sharp
Banfield
Erasmus
Frederick
Fyfe ( lets get real)

Thought Johnson was pretty good, one wrong side handball release under pressure was outstanding.

We need Pearce back, Young, icing on the cake.

Should have been 10 goals. Going forward we were absolutely putrid. It was so blindingly obvious that we were missing a small pressure forward. The ease with which Essendon marched the ball out was infuriating to watch. Why we aren't playing Dudley I have no idea.

Banners should not play again. Someone tell me what he does that Aish couldn't do instead? His dumb as **** kick across the ground to Worner that was cut off and Essendon scored from should be drop worthy itself.

Fyfe was pretty rusty and his unwillingness to kick the damn thing got us into trouble too many times. If JL wants to play him as the sub then fine. I don't know if he is up to being in the starting lineup anymore.

Bolton had one of those almost games. On another day he kicks 5.

I still fail to see what Freddy brings. With his supposed pace he should be running down opponents yet I wouldn't be surprised if he has ever laid and stuck a tackle.

Sharp. Just why?

There are only so many players a team can carry and tonight we carried too many.

Banfield, Fyfe, Freddy, Sharp out.

JOM, Young, Dudley (with a full preseason) or Sturt, Whan in

A fit JOM (2-3 games in the WAFL), as a 19th to 22nd player in our 22 adds value.

Frederick is just ahead of the second kick out of defense, the one that stalls and takes forever before kicking long. Frederick is a long handball ahead of where the ball lands there so should the crumbing players get hold of it they put it out in front of him and he takes it the length of the ground to an inside fifty.

But then the Freo player holding up the ball sits on it and sits on it, and sits on it so the entire opposition defensive structure lines up between Frederick and the goal.

Frederick would kick more goals, or be involved in more goals, if we punished sides that press right up on us, flooding everyone forward to pressure us, if we kicked it over the back to him where he is loose almost always.

Amiss too.

Unfortunately, I expect St Kilda will do this tactic against us and it will look horrible and if we don't move the ball fast against them the same will happen - but if we do and it forces St Kilda to stretch out their structure to defend the fast break back to goal it will make everything easier and kill their pressure on us.

Can someone kick to Amiss, on the full. Open 4 plus times in space and either ignored or a poor kick.
So much this! And not just last night.

He's our best leading forward by a mile and the amount of times players are too slow or hesitant to hit him up does my head in (and no doubt Jye's too).

He's making the midfielders job easy, but they're making it hard for him.

To be fair, there is a lot of that going on. There's one with O'Driscoll in the centre square and he eventually kicks it forward and Treacy has wrestled himself free of his opponent and is leading straight into space, all he had to do was kick it near the space btu he held it for another two seconds so Treacy was nearly stationary when the contest (which should never have been) happened.

Hopefully it's a matter of confidence. Just put it in front of them as quickly as possible and trust they will work to the front to take that mark.

We would have six to ten extra shots at goal a game.

Was super impressed with his efforts. He created two goals by hard work, and always provided great pressure.

Worner has been a revelation. Tough as nails and his confidence is growing every week.
Moose called it in preseason that Worner would be the most improved this year. After a shocker to start the year and everyone saying WTF was Moose talking about - seems he must have had some inside info that us lot weren’t privy to. 😜
Keep up the good work Karlos! 👍🏼

Draper was top of the bottom 6 and should never have been brought back from Peel. He was beaten to the ball on nearly every occassion by his man. McDonald is a far better option at this stage.

In reflection of the last 5 games, I think last was the first one in that stint where the bottom 5 "held us back" but the superstars carried anyway. I think some guys really coming on and lifting has been a big reason for this streak so not too concerned yet

Draper seems to have gone backwards, but I think with a lot of these young players it’s mental ( Amiss , Johno , Reid)and they will have quiet patches .
I feel like he will come good again, hes got what it takes

Bolton and Reid kicking general play goals off a couple of steps when the game is still tight, keeps us in the contest until the grind opens the game up and our kicking game comes over the top.

Draper looks like he tries to play like Alex Pearce without being as strong as Alex Pearce. Moose still gets beaten occasionally, but he looks a lot harder to shift under the ball and a lot better at shifting opponents from position than Draper.

So hopefully more time in the gym will see Draper become the brute he needs to be.
