Keep both Moc played a solid finals series and had a good game generating drive, Henry disappointing finals but young and will learn...
What have you been watching?
Henry was very very good our first 2 finals, couple of errors tonight but also some big one on one wins.. Certainly not poor

They have 3-4 dangerous smalls, stopping one while getting nothing back achieves nothing. O'Connor gives us nothing.
What are you talking about??? O'Connor had 18 touches, more than many of our mids including Guthrie, Parfitt, Menegola, Blicavs and Narkle, and while they were being torched up and down the wings in the second half guess what O'Connors opponent was doing....faark all.

Didn't think I was - Brandan is one of our best young players, still only 21, and a very good 2-way player imo. His tackling was great tonight. If not a future Captain moving forward then I think he is a big 'Yes' as far as young leaders are concerned.

He's definitely not Captain material, but that's not a bad thing. He's just not that type.

Sure he's going to be a good player. Totally agree there

It's pretty tough to swallow that one in terms of results if I missed the game and opened the phone in the morning I would think that's probably about right.

Mitch Duncan, Hawkins, Rohan, Clark to a lesser extent. You probably needed the first two guys to go deeper in this match.

But with context in regards to the match the cats couldn't figure out how to play four quarters. Only two tonight, 3 vs west coast, 2-1/2 vs Collingwood. That's not going to win you multiple finals.

The gameplan worked early the pressure was good the midfield Led by Kelly 31 ( 3 Goals ) Dangerfield, Selwood was right on top repeat entries Miers was lively 22 ( 2 goals 2)

Narkle looked lively parfitt involved we were really winning the ball inside and then cutting them apart with a short lateral chip and getting plenty of overlap run. Henderson much maligned did his best Sav not a lot of impact.

Missed several regulation shots probably should have been 5 goals up at half time. In the 2nd half the game opened up Richmond were simply more efficient going forward had cleaner quicker ball movement and Geelong had no answer.

You flick through the stats it's not pretty clearances. Cats (35)-(29) Rich
Stoppage Clearances. Cats (25)-(19) Rich
Contested Poss. Cats (145) - (125)
Uncontest poss. Cats ( 215)-(186)
Turnovers. Cats (70) - (66)
Marks. Cats ( 93)-(82)
Marks inside 50. Cats (7)- (18)
Time in possessions. 45% - 41%
Tackles. 51- 60
One percenters. 38. -58

Matchups Kolo held riewoldt Goaless obviously lynch got of the hook with blicavs up the ground.

MOC was very good all night 18 touches and a great tackle. Menegola was alright after half time when moved back ended with 18 touches about 3 to half time.

Not much else to talk about from a Geelong perspective Houli (32) touches had to much space and Prestia (28) 2goals nobody went near him. Dusty caused a lot of confusion down back and we don't want to go over spilt milk but your asking a lot to rotate Bews, Moc, Stewart, Henry through Martin to be honest your probably better going a straight matchup with kolo on Martin and Blicavs to lynch, Taylor to riewoldt then steward is a floater.

Tuohy had a lot of it but too many one handed efforts and cheap possessions for my liking.

So in a nutshell Geelong got a lot of what it wanted but just couldn't orchestrate any way to nullify what Richmond wanted to do. For as many touches the midfield had in the end they had a dirty night because they were beaten over 4 quarters and everyone is happy to run forward but it fell apart when the tigers pushed back.

My tentative half cut best players that would need to be reviewed if I ever watch this game again won't happen

5. Kelly
4. Dangerfield
3. Miers
2. Selwood
1. Moc

Kolo on riewoldt reasonable job, Narkle first half. Menegola 2nd half.

Questionable mirror men

M.Blicavs played out of position but a senior player basic skill errors in front of goal. One of the worst handball chains I have seen and basically zero impact on the match.

Henderson I thought was alright considering the circumstances was good in the 3rd but quiet all the same.

Bews skills ordinary
Guthrie coming off a blinder had a couple of passages but this is a prelim senior players need to standup short handed.

Hawkins cost us

Onto 2020 and I assume significant list changes so talk more about it then.

The coaches had another polarizing performance blind freddy could see your best defender should play back. And couldn't find a way to get the game back on terms after the first half. They had a 5 out of 10 night

His basic mistakes are killers like 2 oob on the full result in 2 goals from position of us having the ball

The more Chris Scott pressers I see, the more I think he's an arrogant twat. Certainly are across that way tonight...

Some people appear arrogant or even passive-aggressive when they feel cornered or are on the back foot, it can seem like the only alternative to showing weakness or nervousness in light of intimidating circumstances.

Im not too upset to be honest
Thought team gave as good as it could and was overwhelmed by the better team.

Totally different feeling to the Qf disaster.v pies

I agree. Started as well as you could hope, gave us as fans an hour of magical thoughts of a GF. But the Tigers and their manic run-ball and ability to tap, knock on and just get the ball into any space, where they must be drilled to the nth degree to always be speeding out towards the ball broke our resistance.

Gazza's shot in the last, amazed the ball actually faded into extra distance to pass the goals and miss to the deeper side, who knows, had he kicked it we'd have been up. But Richmond's style has been quite imperious for much of the last 2 and a bit years....they were one shyte PF away from an excellent season last year, and have now won 11 in succession.

If it is the last game for Gazza and Harry, thanks for the memories and service over the years. And i'm not sure...is Richmond runball what footy is now to be? I guess it's just a total belief in their systems (would be good if we can poach an assistant who knows how it can be made to work)...they have 100% confidence in what they do and follow it all the time.

It might be the last hurrah of some of the old brigade, and maybe the side will have to step back a bit to move forward. Onto the draft now, and if TK leaves, again thanks for the service and if it's huge bucks you'll get and your family wants for the climes of home, we can hardly begrudge him.

Anyway, go GWS!!

Clean out incoming. And it needs to be top to bottom. Clean out the coaches. Clean out the VFL team. Clean out some of the AFL team and **** this game plan right off because it didn't just cost us tonight, it's cost us for 2 months.
We need to stop recruiting guys like Henderson and then try to play him at the wrong end of the field. We have to try and get a 24-26yr old ruck and commit to making him the best with a better ruck coach.
If Kelly wants out, hold WCE or Freo to ransom. Try and get anything for guys like Smith, Fort, Abbott, Henderson, Buzza. Give game time to guys like Constable and put skilled players on the half back line instead of plodders like Bews and O'Conner who are turnover merchants.

That 2nd half capitulation was so predictable, everyone knew Richmond would come and like always our team just falls to absolute water in prelims when the pressure goes up.

And master coach Chris Scott not putting Blitz to lynch was classic Scott, his incredible finals record continues.

Good effort but gee still a huge gap been like now for the past 4 years. But defs like our younger players overall in 2019.

Don’t know why Blicavs is on the wing, I mean he plays similar to Lonergan.
That shut down key defender that is able to play on the monster forwards ) Lynch)

Blitz defs has the tank, but no where the the field kicking to play the wing....

MOC most improved player on our list by some distance.

What I want to see is a coaching reshuffle. Would love Brendan McCartney back as a development coach and Knights pissed off

You keep saying that he had 18 touches like it proves a point or something? My argument is simple, MOC is not the type of player we need, and our overeliance on him comes at the expense of playing more capable players in his position. He is a weak link.

we'll see DtC ... I like him, don't get me wrong - but he can play a cynical brand, and I've maintained on multiple occasions throughout this season that I wouldn't be surprised if this was his best evah season - time will tell :) - I hope he exceed the prognosis I hold for him.

Do you know what Cynical means?

1.
believing that people are motivated purely by self-interest; distrustful of human sincerity or integrity.

2.
concerned only with one's own interests and typically disregarding accepted standards in order to achieve them.

Chris Scott is a fraud! the sooner the club distance itself from his useless coaching disease the better.

Fresh outlook and fresh ideals is what we need.

Btw anyone else hear the rumour that Fremantle have approached Chris Scott? I heard it on the train on the way home and got all excited but than again could be some made up shit.

The has got to be the worst take in this thread so far.

really?

I praised a small forward for exceeding expectations - perhaps you are the knee-jerker. 2 goals is a fair return, and he definitely put himself out there in terms of presenting further up the ground. There were contests in which I expected more from Gryan Miers, though.

Question marks? Mounting? The kid was a revelation in his first year...another 22 possession effort tonight and was excellent in the first half....and never gave up throughout.

He'll play a lot of football for Geelong...more than just a small forward.

You reckon Miers has midfield potential? Hope so but not convinced on tonight's showing.

I honestly thought Gryan had multitple contests in which his efforts in putting his head over the ball could have been better - I think he is good enough to address those shortfalls.

Scott could have made that change...but I seriously doubt it would have made an iota of difference....especially when u have a look at his goals.

It looked to me we ran out of legs...Whether we like it or not, the Tigers are a very good side.
