One of the most ridiculous things I've read.
He almost retired ffs. Footy means little to him. If he left Richmond it would be because he quit footy.
That is religion based.. I'd say footy means plenty.
But he is a JW, and they (the head JWs) see that someone could have a far greater purpose than to play footy

Kade Kolodjashnij isn't anywhere near worth a first round pick to us.
Although he is quality, with Thurlow, JK and Stewart we are pretty well equipped with medium defenders.

I'd prefer to target a quality small forward like Smith IF we are going to further trade out another high pick. Smith I could handle, as aside from his obvious talent, is still young enough to be around for 8 or more years.

Whether he is the exact player we need but he is talented and a goal kicker. Its an area we do need more talent.. a fit and in form Menzel shows how important that type of player is for us , and Menzel is still a doubtful long term player.

Smith is definitely a potentially elite small forward who can also play midfield. He plays in an area of the ground and in a position we are deficient in. That's good enough for me even though he is not what I would necessarily consider your typical crumbing forward. He's probably a massive upgrade on Lang if that makes sense?

Think he will be hanging around? Id expect him to get a little bit of a wage diet.
If he did stay (probably cause no other team would pay that much and have to put up with some of the rubbish he brings) i would bloody hope they offer him a reduced contract. He's worth nowhere near what he is payed.

For me the player we should be having a massive go at is Jackson Trengove. With Harry and Lonners near the end a tall who can play any key position on the ground including ruck is a priority I think

Would prefer Steven May but neither would come cheap.

Seeing as though we are just throwing names around and spending cash.
1 mil for Petracca thanks.
Yes please! Rate Petracca so highly, when he moves full time into the midfield end of this year / start of next season watch out he could win a Brownlow.

Few as in 4? Well if thats only if we win the flag ..thats hardly worth talking about.

LOL So used twisting paper is around R3 ...so whats that make Smith ... Christmas wrapping = R2.

How would the aflpa have any say..he is contracted , just because he wants out doesn't make a contract void..perhaps he should have put an out option in his contract.
hutchy confirmed my mail, late pick for ablett
aflpa and afl dont wont the crap about players right blah blah blah, and players being held against their will blah blah blah
afl dont want to pay 1 mil for a player that doesnt want to be there, and doesnt promote the brand in qld
would rather use the cash to lure a new gun, can see a fyfe type being offered $$$$$$$

smith is round 2 plus change

if gws win a flag smith is def gone as the gws cap is about to explode as it is, they need room and he is not essential given their talent pool

we have no currency to make this deal happen, unless we trade selwood
Agree, didn't think it would actually happen at all, was just replying to the post about throwing names out there. Petracca probably my favourite player at Melbourne but there's no way he's coming to the Cats.

I really like Petracca, but I'm not sure he'll have the motor to go all day in the midfield. Might be one of those impact players. Cockatoo is a similar style.

Totally agree
He like Jom and Menzel got injured young

Just not sure what they would have been without setbacks

Yeah poor guys, Petracca seems to be quite confident in his knee as he's only done it the 1 time so he's still got very good evasiveness and sidesteps. As long as he doesn't do another knee I still believe Petracca can move into the midfield after building his fitness more and absolutely dominate, he's a bull like Cockatoo but has better footy smarts & disposal efficiency I reckon.

JOM just absolutely wrecked his knee don't think many players have ruptured their patella tendon but it sounds just as bad as an ACL if not worse. Then Menz the 4 which is understandable.

I honestly don't know what his ceiling is. When I watch him move I sometimes think "you're going to be the best player in the comp".

Now Barrett is rabbiting on about Saints getting rid of Reiwoldt, it may be time to talk with him to see if for cheap he'd like a shot at a flag. Just while we work out our key position players for the future.
Just what we'd need at present.
Just walk for free to the cattery

Riewoldt will want to retire a one club player. Had plenty of chances to leave and chase a flag when they started their rebuild and he chose to stay.

Agree entirely, but if they shaft him, he could potentially do a Stevie J, Chappy, Kelly etc who all wanted to be one club players too. What a fit it would be for us though!!!!
