Wouldn't put it past him to have held off on this as not to detract any attention away from Ablett's farewell. If so, he's underselling himself and his importance to the club - the very definition of a champion. One of the premiere CHBs for the best part of a decade from the moment he walked into club.

Congrats on ya career Harry

The mature aged recruit who stepped into a premiership side and didn't look out of place

Still don't think he's 2009 grand final performance is given the credit it deserves, and only Gerard Whateley giving him votes in the Norm Smith (3) - he limited the impact of Nick Riewoldt who he kept to 1 goal, with Riewoldt ultimately having to work further up the field to get involved in the game. He then took what was called the game saving mark, and even though it wasn't as impressive or deep in the opposition forward line as Leo Barry's, it was as equally important. And all that was done with broken hand which occurred in the first quarter of the game, and an injury he kept quiet on until after the final siren

A stalwart of defence and will be missed

What a fantastic career he's had as a Geelong player. Drafted as a mature-age recruit, and has always just delivered. Even when all thought he was cooked, he still proved to be one of the best defenders in the game. My highlight has to be the job he did on Nick Riewoldt in the 2009 flag. Such an individual too and much loved at the Cattery by staff and players. He will be missed, but I wish him all the best for the rest of his life.

phenomenal that the Cats turned the cruelty of Matthew Egan going down so early in his career to a positive in Harry Taylor. Absolute steal and ready made gun, has remained top shelf up until his very last game. On top of that, one of the very many humble champions at Geelong over the last 15 years.

Didn't Harry break the record for the most spoils in a grand final that day?

Absolute champion of the game whose preparation and attention to detail was unsurpassed. Remember reading he kept a dossier of strengths and weaknesses of all his opponents. Hopefully he passes those onto whoever it is who takes his position in the backline in 2021 and beyond.

Fantastic player. Very humble and happy to be a bit different. Speed aside, even up until his last game he was still among the best 3-4 contested defenders in the competition.

Very selfless, committed himself to learning a completely new role for a time as a forward and despite some fairly harsh criticism he was actually very capable up there - five bags of 4+ in a game.

One less link to the glory years.

Well done on a magnificent career H you absolute legend, your epic runs after a big finals win will always be remembered 🍻🍻🍻
