Former players who became premiership coaches, must have played the majority of their career at your club.

We've produced 1 (Mark Williams), quiet remarkable when you think about it.

How many has your team produced?

Blight (Adelaide), Pagan (North), Clarkson (Hawthorn) and Longmire (Sydney).

We haven't produced a lot of AFL level coaches though, to my memory.

What is the criteria for this? Ron Barrassi would be the only obvious one but technically we could claim Alastair Clarkson and Luke Beveridge too

Players only? Beveridge and Hardwick both served apprenticeships under Clarkson.

Clarkson: 93 games for North, 41 Melbourne. Nope
Beveridge: 42 games for Melbourne, 31 for Footscray, 45 for St Kilda. Bit of a mongrel, not sure anyone can claim.

We had him first

Interesting to note that Damien Hardwick, John Longmire, Alastair Clarkson and Adam Simpson all played under Dennis Pagan.

Obviously Simpson came up short and only an idiot would try to claim Hardwick for North Melbourne, but I think it says quite a bit about Pagan as a coach. For perspective that's 9 of the last 12 coaches to be in a grand final, with five of the last six premierhip winning coaches.

John Worsfold did the WC captain/coach premiership double.

Other than that Pyke coached Adelaide to a GF.

Guy McKenna coahced Gold Coast, Dean Laidley coached North, Scott Watters coached St Kilda, both Watters and Jarrad Schofield coached a few WAFL flags.

Granted we've only been around since 1986 but all these guys played under Mick Malthouse, and McKenna, Laidley and Watters all coached under him as assistants.
