qlds stops the Gladys virus after a major outbreak Within two weeks.

victoria does not.

what does that say about Victoria?
Our population is more dense. Especially Melbourne compared to Brisbane. We are on top of each other here.
We are more multicultural here, in turn bigger family groups, more language barriers, more ethnic groups that don't take it seriously.
Delta hit our schools, kids don't wear masks, definitely wouldn't socially distance.

also you are forgetting that the antibodies last as little as 3 months, but not much more than 6 months

so most of the UK 2020 figures and the 2021 wave would be null regardless

it is also difficult to know whether circulating antibody levels are are marker of real risk of reinfection - circulating antibody levels could fall but respond to a stimulus (reexposure)

today will be a big test. Walking the dogs yesterday the crowds at the cafes and the playgrounds were considerably down. walking trails were quieter, and the ovals/parks were all about playing sport.

today being 21C, hopefully we get more of the same, and not the park parties again

What happened to the heavy police presence moving people on that was part of the lockdown last year? Seems much more muted.

How do you know all of this? U are just one person? Always sound like you are selling a message.

what are they doing differently? I had thought I read that they were admitting all their positives to hospital to control movements but would need to fact check this
That was my question. I dont have a complete answer. But its worth investigating. Climate is one difference. I suppose qld went for a harder short lockdown initially. Child care was closed. Playgrounds were closed. Pretty much all but the absolutely essential services were supposed to be open. Although they were very vague up here about what absolutely essential was so i dont actually know how people interpreted it. Also i dont know if there is a difference in compliance.

Plenty of resource would have been allocated to (justifiably) pepper-spraying the shitcampaigners at the freedumb protest yesterday.

How do I know this? Because there are lots of walking paths in my 5km zone and I walk them extensively (not much else to do after all). People watching is what you do (watching dogs bums gets boring after 50 metres)

ok have just had a quick look at their qld health covid website and it does appear they do home quarantine for positive cases who aren't sick.

the post on twitter yesterday shows hospitals are not the answer either.

Still stunned covid +ve patients are refusing to wear masks in the hospital

You're out east, right?

Was just observing inner north yesterday - e.g. Princes Park - fewer people overall but still picnics and gatherings, which got moved on quickly last year.

east - Glen Iris way

they have been around, but pretty low key. As mentioned, the change in compliance has been noticeable, so they havent had much to do (from what ive seen)

The only * i'll add is i heard half a dozen sirens last night. so looks like they are enforcing the 9pm rule pretty hard
