Carlton review thread is them melting down about the free kick yesterday.

Watched the tame and felt it was poorly umpired both ways generally, but the reason for the free kick differential was because of their lack of discipline more than anything else.

When you win the ground ball, you get looked after. I'd suggest there's a correlation with hard, contested footy.
Spot on. How many matches have Collingwood posters complained about the umpiring? In the case of Cox this has been so obvious that it has in turn become obvious over the last few matches the umpires have recognised their mistake and are trying to correct it. This stat doesn't indicate the pies are the umps favourites, just that we are doing the right thing which then draws a free. A disciplined side?

Yeah love to see break down if possible of where the frees are paid also
I'd like to see a break down of how many were paid with advantage called after we already had the footy in clear space or after we'd already marked the footy.

Am I doing something wrong, because the way I see it some of them look like they haven't been calculated correctly?

Coll 306-247 = 59
WC 305-265 = 40

How about the 50m penalties?!?

Everyone is obsessed with the free kick count yet nobody has even come forward with a supposedly “incorrect call” that benefitted us. The free kick ledger IS NOT INTENDED TO BE EVEN. Want to win the free kick count? Stop giving away dumb frees!

Meanwhile, the Blues first and third goals were direct results of dodgy fifties, and Charlie kicked a last quarter goal by shoving Howe into a different dimension.

Yeah that’s my conclusion as well, but I’d say it comes down to discipline too. Remove the outliers in Adelaide and West Coast with the noise of affirmation the two teams with the best differential are those that have structured up best in 2019 and the most disciplined in Collingwood and North. Hawthorn and the Bulldogs are perennial umpire favourites!

Overall it isn’t particularly surprising and this year the only game I’d conclude was poorly umpired was v Geelong which is a pretty strong indicator that we’ve had a good run. The one that surprised me until I thought on it is Richmond, but they’ve very quietly developed an unsociable football air to the way they play so it makes some sense.

This is is old news. We have been leading in this free kick differential ladder for most of the year. Triple M post it every week after the round.

So a Richmond v Collingwood Grandfinal will be a cakewalk (there, I said it).
We should get get 10 more Free licks...enough to get us over the line...that & Treloars Norm Smith & Cox’s 6 goal haul.

The way I read this is we're a great tackling side. I'd love to see the stats for what the Frees For are paid for as alot of sooks out there think we get a good deal of it. I usually watch 5-6 games each weekend and I can safely say our boys tackling wins hands down based around the league and I think the actual FK count shows this.

Free kicks do NOT have to be even.

Play in front, you should be getting more frees.

Just pay the frees as they happen do not invent them or excuse them...
