Yeah, there are two sides who have had a good look at him up close - and both sides desperately need key forwards. He has a very record for a young KPF and Melbourne got rid of him and Freo don't want him. There might be another side who can get sucked in but he is done as an AFL player of consequence IMO.

This is spot on, and will be re-affirmed if Melbourne have zero interest in getting him back even at bargain basement trade cost.

Melbourne consciously offloaded a player of obvious talent, and Fremantle (Bell) baulked for quite a while during the trade negotiation because Freo knew Hogan’s back story. I think Bell relented ultimately because Hogan was a great white hope Freo had chased for years.

It’s a pity because when he’s right he’s a fantastic player.

He'd be on massive wedge, so Freo may help with a few hundred K of next yrs payments to offload this yr.

Either way, he knows his only chance to stay on the money to which he has become accustomed is to stay at Freo for 2021 and put in a huge season.

No big/long term contracts will be forthcoming from anywhere this time.

Still less risk than Joe Daniher though.

Take away the emotion and he's younger, more goals, and can get on the paddock. If you had to pick one, do you back yourself to fix the head case or fix the dicky groin ?

Apparently not according to our board. He’s on small contract with large match payments or payments for reaching X number of games etc. Something like that..... apparently.

I take Daniher on 1m a season over Hogan on 500k

Two clubs have shopped him out. It's not like "he has potential" either, Both clubs know he can play, He can play, Why can't he?

Hogan would have to have a massive turnaround to be playing football in 2022

hmmm cant see how he would b slumming it.
"massive" was prob the wrong term. I'll change it to "big" wedge. Maybe "far far too much" is the right one.

Has the bloke got wife/kids/anything to hold him in WA ?

‘Apparently’ we had reservations about signing him, thought maybe wouldn’t commit 100%. The counter offer from the Hogan camp was to place more $$ emphasis on playing.
He’s from WA so his whole family is there.

This is the thing , He is a WA boy and you would think playing for freo would be his dream and would hate to move to another club. Combined with Freo's need for a player with his skills and position and if they want to off load him - Massive Alarm bells that would be hard to take the risk with unless in a melbourne/Bennell type deal (which didnt really work out too well)

Yeah thats exactly why i was curious about it. In the right state of mind and physically fit it's difficult to imagine any scenario where he wouldn't be going at 100%...considering the ramifications and potential upheaval. It's not as though he has options galore to remain at home, and contract talks looming.
If his head is in the right place, he SHOULD in theory be tracking at his best about now. At least displaying 100% commitment and trying his guts out. It should look obvious if the case, however freo seem to be letting it slip that it may not be the case. Fans would notice it for sure.
Bit of poor form aside, if physically fit then every other club can only come to other conclusions. Alarm bells indeed.

Good for Freo.

The Hogan trade has really come back to bite them, but they've done everything right by him. Very well handled by the club thus far, and he's had more chances than most players would get. The sooner they get him out of the club, the better. Sucks that so much of the Lachie Neale trade ended up going to waste, but they basically still got Lobb and Sturt out of it.

Piss off Hogan and bring in Mihocek, and not only has their list improved, but the quality of people at the club has too
