Good hit out and practice for the boys. Take nothing from this other than when we turn it on, it looks great.

I'll happily take the money from the Carlton win.

Few good signs by some players and some disappointing parts from some others.
Happy for the Blues, that midfield is going to be scary.

Carlton applied continuous effort and earned the result. Cripps looks like he's in for a big season, Walsh looks more than promising and Setterfield adds an awesome dimension to their team.

As for us, looks like we decided to turn it on a bit more in the last, which I'm pleased with. McGrath with 2 goals in the last was great to see, Francis' kick to the centre was arousing and it was nice to see Joey with the 1st of the game. Langford is stronger than he realises and needs to harden up.

All in all, good practice game

Only a jlt but it’s crazy an 18 year old with 0 games To hes name racked up 28 disposals, sad to say Carlton’s future is looking brighter that Walsh is going to be a monster along side Cripps.

Going to be a star but In typical Essendon fashion we allowed him to dominate. a team like Richmond would have mad life like hell for him in his first game.

You guys are going to be fine. Lot of quality there, and you are going to give a lot of cheek in 2019. Do think though that to give the whole thing a crack you need an elite inside extractor at whatever cost.

We're probably two years away, but yeah. Current indications are that we will be trading out quality young mids who can't get a game not to far down the track.

Have a good year and do your best to keep up the recent tradition of shock losses to Carlton. :thumbsu:

Oh I'm sure we will be fine. I'm more annoyed a few players outside the 22 showed more of the same was hoping for a bit more from some.

Goodluck for the year

Young Mr Walsh might be in for a harsh lesson in life in round one. He's going to find that his talent in traffic doesn't have the same results against a side running at full throttle.

Looks like a bloody ripper though.

Id say my boy Stringer was a good barometer for our performance tonight - hot and cold.
Thought McGrath and Tippa were great, Z.Clarke a good pickup, and McKernan who I’m a fan of was rubbish.
Liked the look of Joks endeavour, Laverde a bit disappointing for mine - 2019 a big year for him and Langford who showed much more fight. JLT game so can’t get too carried away - just great to have footy back!

I love Stringer but damm could have put us in front when we were 4 points down had all the momentum misses like deflate the team.

Hooker will dominate with the 666 rule. We were missing Orazio as well. Carlton coming off there worst ever season and winning a JLT game because their youngsters are all fighting for a spot means nothing. All our players were going through the motions for most of it.

As long as Shiel's knee is alright, game was a big pile of meh. Good to see them out there, good to see we're getting minutes into a few guys that probably need it coming off injuries. Would like to see the whole midfield and the preferred ruck set up take to the field together for JLT2, that'll be more telling.
