This will be interesting. So do we move the Magpies to a national comp, or just the players and call them Port Adelaide reserves and carry the Power nick name and jumper, leaving the Magpies in the amature comp (SANFL).

Piss the SANFL off for good hopefully.

AFL working towards introducing a national second-tier competition in 2022, reports Dwayne Russell
Was gonna write that this is just Dwayne telling us what Chris Davies told the members Convention.

But I learnt something I didnt know - West Coast has established a new stand-alone reserves side for the 2019 WAFL season.

And they wont be short of a $ or $$ to fund it.

The SANFL is already dead. Port Adelaide is forever.

Playing in the SANFL isn't a Port Adelaide tradition. Our tradition is to play in the highest competition available to us and win the premiership.

Chris Davies talked about West Coast's stand-alone WAFL side at the convention.

The WA sides seem to be one step ahead of the other interstate clubs.

Since the re-unification in 2010. (May be missing some things, feel free to add)

Things taken away between 2013-2019:
Our Zones
Our Juniors
SANFL listed players raided by other SANFL clubs
Academy side
Tradition of the Captain wearing No.1 at both AFL & SANFL level (Replaced by Co-Captains Wines & Jonas, and "Leadership player" Cam Sutcliffe)

Things that could be gone between 2020-2022:
Prison Bars jumper at ANY level. (If we leave the SANFL and don't put in a convincing enough case to wear it in the AFL/AFLR/AFLW comps)
SANFL side
Magpies nickname
Port Magpies logo
Home (SANFL) games at Alberton

What we will have left:
1870 on the back of a 10 year old jumper
Port panel on back of that jumper
37 flags hanging at Alberton Oval
NTUA (Was a message directed to the SANFL but it seems our club is cannibalising itself)

Yikes....

Yikes....
When people tell me to get over 1 tradition (captain) they need to remember what else we have lost and what we could lose in the future.

Not only do I think the club isn't fighting hard enough to retain all of this, they are going out of their way to remove it needlessly.

Well, perhaps it’s time to change my name to OnceGreatClub.

For a club that enjoyed a Renaissance off the back of embracing its roots and traditions at a time when everyone was telling it that was the problem, we’ve made a tremendous fist of pivoting back to Crows-lite of late.

Perhaps that’s the plan.
If they keep this up the supporter base will become so apathetic that they could end up with a supporter base of dullard customers who accept everything, are locked out of the club and question nothing. It would make their job a lot easier.

It's working.
