Autopsy NMFC vs WBD

I have copped some bad losses on the chin in my 50 years of Roo supporting but this one broke my heart in two. There are some great doggies supporters but there are some arrogant tossbags who have come to the fore. Simpkin is gold, Ben Brown had a great game, Cunnington woke up in the second half and Jack really gives it his all as Captain - but shit we should have snatched it

Honourable loss my arse - soon we will be everyone's second team!

There's being positive.

Then there is being realistic.

You don't get points for effort in this league.

I refuse to congratulate professional footballers because of the effort they put in.

It's expected.

So are the execution of basic skills. Like hitting short passes. Which aren't done to a high enough standard. And haven't been for a number of years.

That is bullshit. Effort differs every week with every team. We were playing the premiers, the effort was very good and a couple of moments lost it for us.

OK to be disappointed. sniping your own team after a game like that is what separates barrackers from supporters.

Not here to get into an argument but the umpiring was ******* horrible both ways. North got away with a bit as did the dogs. North got some lucky free kicks as the dogs did.

Cop it on the chin and appreciate how well your team done.

I said the same thing to my bulldogs uncle. But please give an example of a howler against your boys?

The same story for years and years against better teams.

The inability to excecute basic skills under pressure.

Negative- The constant barracking by the commentary box. They're supposed to be impartial callers but they constantly jizzed about the dogs like there was only one team out there.

I was pretty happy with the performance today just we butchered it way too much

Pressure was ferocious.

LT broke my heart with his last minute of footy.. really wanted him to kick it lace out or kick that goal

Apart from that it's a bit of oh well, can't wait until wood and Waite comes back

ill say it. I'm not his biggest fan but Hansen was exceptional today

Good. Lets hope that raises his stocks for another club to grab him next year. While he does have these games every now and then, he's too one dimensional. Can take an intercept mark - but that's it. No speed, no strength, hopeless 1v1 and takes his eye off the ball in marking contests.

There were a fair few throws (not saying the dogs didnt) but they were missed. Attack on Cloke that didn't get paid and also one on Adams late in the game

Not a perfect world.

If we lost, I would've blamed it on the team, not the umpires

Both sides were sloppy with disposal today, but we've had consistent issues on that front for a while, and opposition teams have consistently found it easier to transition into their forward line from our turnovers. Disappointing to see this problem persist after so long. Another problem was that we had plenty of marking contests, or opportunities to tackle, where our players would impede/spoil one another and leave them loose - communication and understanding of roles/structure must become better than that. (Though, the worst persisting problem remains the inability to hold a lead - seriously, why haven't we addressed that in the near-decade it's been a problem, going back to narrow wins against Crows/Lions in 2010, and especially 2013?)

Thought Simpkin showed some great glimpses of his potential today, as did Garner (despite poor disposal). Back six looked pretty solid despite the mentioned issue with confusion of roles. Cunnington sublime, back to his best today. Swallow better than most are giving him credit for - couple of dumb errors and never will be a speedster but laid 11 tackles and set up some shots on goal also. Brown still misses chances he should take (marks and goals) but continues to improve as our primary forward target.

Umpiring wasn't great but didn't favour them more than us - the fact we had two atrociously and memorably bad calls against us makes it seem worse than it was.

Biggest negative is this board and the pathetic vendettas of a number of posters here. Rational criticism of underperforming players is one thing; carping on your favourite whipping boys' every mistake and ignoring any and every positive is quite another.

With the way we've played for most of the season so far (despite negatives with disposal and giving up leads), we should win a few once the draw evens out a bit (this always looked like a rough first four rounds) - especially if Wood, Waite, Jacobs and the like can take up their places in the side sooner rather than later. (Those who'd rather we junked half the side in favour of unspecified "kids", and care more about being a couple of picks higher in the draft than winning games, are welcome to start "supporting" the club again come November...) Bonus is that a good contest such as this should keep this match-up as the Good Friday match for some time now.

Great effort guys. I'm sure you will dissect your team over the week but one thing was not lacking.... courage. You had it in spades. Poor skill level on both sides was what kept it close Please don't be Swannies and blame umps. When Swallow TWICE in the space of 60 seconds tried to break tackles and got caught, both ball ups. The ruck free was correct by the rules. It's just a shit rule. Believe me we would love it to be removed.

You have too many talls it seems. Can we lend Majak and get some games into him for you ? No Roughy, Redpath, Boyd or Cloke our cupboard is bare. We'll give him back....scouts honour !!

I said the same thing to my uncle. We should have beaten your boys after being 5 goals up.

Again, ability to execute under pressure is what separates the top 4 from the rest. And we made top 4 a couple of times recently. So park the same old story bullshit.

We haven't made top four at the end of the H&A season.

That's the issue.

Agreed. Tanking is for blues and demons.

Garner (outside his goal) was disgusting. Seriously poor and hurt us massively.

Ziebell likewise. Sure courage but just so bad with the footy.

Intensity and attitude fantasic.

Really enjoyed that, but for certain players who lost us the game - and a dickhead coach that thinks a tiring team and leaving defensive 50 open is a good idea.

Should have won by 5 goals.

As soon as we got five goals up, Ziebell got caught cold in the middle leading to Suckling's goal. Higgins hit the post, and then two poor Atley kicks led to another Dogs goal. From there we just went to water for the next ten minutes when we should have been out of sight.
