It's that time again!

For those of you who are new to this, the Buddy concept works by people adopting a player for the season, and reporting on said player after each weekend's game. Some people like to also post news articles relating to their player, and things like wallpapers. If done well, these threads will be such an interesting source of information in the years to come. Rather than relying on plain stats and the odd news article, we could be reading what the supporters thought of our players as they came through the ranks.

You get to adopt your player via a draft, which will be run in real time right here on BigFooty, or you can choose to submit your votes via PM if you are unable to attend.

So let's get this party started!

Last year a lot of people became rather slack in their reporting (myself included). I am going to omit myself from this draft and just look after a rookie player as I don't think I'll be able to dedicate the required time and effort.
So everyone who is looking to participate, please note that you DON'T have to try to compete with DThomas' thread, but please try to keep it respectable!

I have a couple of comments to make first up.
I think that we should give people a choice of whether or not they continue with the player's old thread, or choose to start a new one.
BUT - If new ones are to be started, I think they should be made with posterity in mind. Try not to make them 'year specific'. I'd like it if we could start threads this year and stick with them from now on.
It doesn't mean you can't put your own personal touch on the thread, but it's a bit silly to have a new one for each year, especially when most of them only have a handfull of posts.
It's just a suggestion though. I'll channel a bit of DTM here and say: Your Thoughts?

I concur it would be pretty collingwood having a youngsters story over 5 years in one thread it would be kinda like a scarp book.

A few short to cover the whole list. Many were called, and most were chosen, but many fell by the wayside.

It's hard to maintain interest when your player doesn't get a game through injury, inexperience or poor form.

I also think that some people missed a game or 2, and decided to just drop the whole thing. I think we need to lower our expectations just a fraction, and maybe come at this from a different angle. I think that people felt they needed to write an essay on every game, and when they couldn't fulfill that they decided to just drop the whole thing.
We don't want massive writeups after every single game. But we do want consistent posting, and if you do have the time, or a particularly good insight into a facet of the player's game, then give it a shot!
News articles, pictures from training, you can even quote other people's comments about your player.

You won't be designated a player, you will get to choose one during our draft, which will hopefully be held before the start of the NAB cup.

Yeah mate, once everyone has signed up, we will assign draft picks via a lottery. Then we will hold the draft in a thread, and everyone takes their pick in turn.

Apologies for my pathetic efforts on the Ben Reid buddy thread last year. I realised that I'm really too lazy to keep a buddy thread running for the year so rather than doing another half-arsed thread this year, I'll just opt out.

MY efforts were not so hot either, but soemtimes there is only so much info to put up.

I was fairly average with Sidebottom last year. I kind of lost interest after there wasn't much action early on.
