Okay so these are the official changes for the game against Richmond.

IN:

Bode
Bassett

Out:

Knights
Porplyzia

My reaction - Meh.

We've got Bassett, what's the useless ragdoll still doing in the team?

I'm genuinely angry about this one. Stevens did NOTHING, whereas Porplyzia was excellent in every aspect. Sends a really bad message to the youngsters that a fringe player like Stevens can retain his spot after a rubbish performance.

That was a poor one, Neil.

Knights, Porplyzia and Skipworth are the emergencies.

There may still be hope for Porps or Knighta yet.

Why have we left Stevens in when they dropped both Stafford and Hughes today?

Crap I forgot about Stevens....what the hell!!!

Stiffy I need some help with the rationalisation of this decision.

Needles - very very very very unlucky ...... cannot believe he is out after his game the other day. Its not how much he did, but what he did with the ball and his clean takes. I find it hard to work out what is going on here.

Stevens - the only thing I can think of is that we give him three or forur weeks in the A's to see whether he can cut the mustard when he is in some form. Mind you I thought he was very very average last week.

I cannot see any other justification unless we are worried about Stan Stafford, Richardson etc in the back half.

Still Craigy must have hs reasons. But this week the decisions of the match committee, in this respect, has really thrown me.

Is it April 1????

Does Stevens have some compromising photos of Craigy and a goat????

I'll probably get bagged for this, but what's new? ;) I know Craig is trying to revive Stevens’s career but honestly to drop Porplyzia is just pathetic. He's been very good since coming into the side, he's kicked goals every week, puts a ton of pressure on opposition defenders and his commitment and 1%’s are terrific. However he keeps Scott Stevens who in reality has shown no signs that he can compete at AFL level. It makes no sense at all to me, and I'm extremely disappointed.

Basset might not play. From what I heard he wasn't 100% certain to play.

And Skipworth named an emergency in front of Bernie Vince and Richie Douglas?

Last night Channel 10 stated that Bassett was unlikely to play, but to be honest I don't care if Bassett doesn't play, Stevens should not be in the side. Richmond have dropped two talls, therefore it's not as crucial if Bassett doesn't come up.

And Douglas's form has been far superior than Skipworth, I really can’t figure out the moves this week.

Perhaps with Perrie and Bock out of the side, Craig is using our soft draw to try and mold Stevens into the KPP our structure presently lacks.

Still a dangerous move though - carrying a passenger with competition for spots so hot.

i heard on 5aa this morns that porps didnt finish main training yesterday.

that and the fact that he has commented that he's never felt more buggered in his life after the game!

so i dont think it was a decision based entiirely on form.

Come on Stiffy, we know they're two very different players. Stevens did a whole heap of nothing last week and it's clearly a shock to everyone here that he's managed to retain a place in the side, even if Bass doesn't make it back.

Clearly. But with Bassett back, I'd have thought our need for height wasn't quite so desperate.

before we all get worked up into hot flushes FFS lets see what actually happens on match day. do us supporters know better than crigy? i dont think so. stevens is there for a reason - perhaps bassett wont come up, perhaps its a future looking structual thing for the yr ahead, perhaps richmond dropping stafford etc contradicts intellegence weve obtained during the week, perhaps he is on his 'ast chance'

whatever it is - CRAIG KNOWS BEST :thumbsu: - look at what he has done to our magnificient club. we collectively know stuff all

Spot on.....the only reasons that decision has been made.

For a youngster so buggered to come up the next week mentally and physically would be very tough....rest him a week and bring him and knights back.

Everyone who doesn't understand Craig's thinking and structure.

People forget that Stevens was IN the side last week before Bassett withdrew. He was picked in the 18. Knight and Porplyzia were players that came in for Bassett and Bode respectively and its was only indicative that those 2 would come out this week in Bode and Bassett were ready to resume.

This was definetly not a surprise to me. Bassett is at his best as a 3rd tall and why would we "cripple" him. He provides a lot of run from the backline and he is invaluable as a 3rd man up in contests. Stevens is in there for the structure and what it allos us to do with Bassett and quite honestly, I think people just love to bag his game last week for the sake of bagging someone. I thought he was pretty reasonable last week.
