What did everybody think of Paul's mock draft, they usually get a bit of inside info when they put these things together. We may not get these guys but they are usually guys that are on our radar.

Pick 19 - Jed Lamb, 181cm 79kg

Pick 38 - Angus Litherland, 190cm 86kg

Pick 55 - Troy Davis, 192cm 90kg

Pick 66 - Cameron Delaney, 194cm 82kg

Pick 86 - Pass, saved for Cam Bruce

The full mock draft and write ups are here - http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/105263/default.aspx

He will probably claim he got 3/5 correct at the end of the day.

-Lamb will go before 19 (but will say we were sure things at 19 for him)

-Get one of the defenders, as if we would draft more than one:rolleyes:

-And Pass on our last pick for Bruce.

More mid sized defenders/no kpp or mids...no pace.

Pass

Angus Litherland ran the 20-metre sprint in the elite time of 2.89 seconds.

No pace? Are you havin a laugh?

Troy Davis has frightening speed for a guy that's 192 cm tall and his coach likens him to Brian Lake in his ability to read the flight of the ball.

Also, not sure if 192cm counts as a mid size defender especially when you can read the ball like Lake and you pride yourself on 'contested marking and spoiling more fancied opponents'. Would also be happy with this kid.

Not to mention Lamb. Despite some with limited footy knowledge saying he's no good, the kid has all the tools to be a 200+ gamer and should end up in the midfield later on in his career.

I'd be happy with most of those picks, though anything can happen during the draft so it's anyone's guess at this stage.

2 sound knees is all I ask for in tomorrows draft and we are a half chance for the player to eventually make it.

My only problem with the Daffey mock is that he has given us 3 tall defenders. We may well have spoken to them all and we may probably be very interested Litherland and Davis who appear to have good closing speed but I doubt if we would pick more than 2.
More likely we are probably hoping to get one of the 3 in the ND and maybe rookie Delaney.

I would go for best available at pick 19, then look to draft a tall defender with pick 38, and a few quick midfielders with the rest of the selections, or even leave the tall defender until a later pick.

This :thumbsu:

If we do go for Lamb at 19, I think he would be able to play stints in the midfield in time. One KPD, the rest speed and decent skills.

This is a very important draft for us. We need some quick mids who can develop and take over from Mitchell and co in the years to come. I would go for a similar policy next yr too...That way, the odds start to swing in your favour that some of them will find their feet and come good. No one knows how good the kids will perform in the seniors, so we need to make shrewd educated guesses. It's called a succession plan and I'm all for it.

Edit: The KPD should have good closing speed and taller than 191cm please, as we have these 'types.'

Doubt we will go with that many defensive 3rd talls.

I'd like a quick outside mid or medium forward with our first and the other solved with a tall or medium running defender with our second and third.

what do you classify as a defensive 3rd tall? i mean they are good height to be KPD and are supposedly Quick! And have pretty good starting weights as well! with a pre-season under their belt they could be stronger next season. Why would you consider them just 3rd talls?

I think CLA is talking about a Murphy or Cheney type player and I agree with him.

If Lamb isn't available at pick 19, which is possible, we should go for the best available midfielder IMO.

I know the general consensus is that we need kpds and speedy "outside" mids but how about looking at a taller forward option (especially given Buddy was used up the ground last year). Part of the reason we were so successful in 2008 was that we had three genuine leading forward options, Buddy, Rough and Willo. With the diminished form and then departure of Willo I think we really lost something. If we can't identify one in the ND maybe gamble on gamble in the PSD ?

In terms of kpds schoey has shown glimpses of being the answer at chb (in one on one contests - I would agree with the consensus that his decision making with the ball in hand and/or disposal can be lacking). Lisle hasn't been given an opportunity at senior level so we don't really know what he is capable of, although he was All Australian u/18 chb. And could we turn at least one of whitex, shiels and savage into one outside mid we are looking for ??
