That's why I said Lisfranc has killed his career. If we were still rebuilding then we probably hang onto him for experience like we did with Murphy.

Rankine in the middle was the only reason we got back into the game. Looked like he was the only guy who wanted to win for about 15 mins there.

Eventually he convinced enough guys to come with him.

Bodies will be sore but we got the points.

Winning ugly is the sign of a good team. However the concern for me was the bruise free footy we played with and just how some players really let themselves down with that attitude.

Freo fell over the line against Port
Dogs held on against Dees.

It was just one of those rounds, Time to move on and vs Pies next week. 4 points banked Top 2 locked in.

Got the win in the end, was a good test.
Top spot outright!
No major injuries.
Must be a tough trip for some reason, we always play so lacklustre over there.
Tex got a break.

Taylor and Pedlar did very well.
Bond did pretty well in his 2nd game for the year.
Burgess just not at the level, though that was a pretty tough game to come into as a forward.
Think people are harsh on Jones, he's coming in as a tagger, then being moved around to be Mr Fixit to keep various players quiet.
Curtin's worst game for a while.

Did we use our B team tactics for a half or 3/4? Why wasn't Rankine into the middle early? Also we really closed up tight on them around the contests in the last, it helped bigtime they stopped squeezing out all the time, why couldn't we do that way earlier, was an obvious thing to do? Anyway, hopefully we did use some B plan setups, helps get players experience in those roles and we might be able to go to it in finals if we need.

It was a good fine day and their smaller forward line and defense had some advantages, particularly when we weren't kickin smartly or moving it well earlier, we could've gone smaller ourselves up forward this game, its a pity Michaelanney's out or we probably couldnvé done the same in defense as well.

Boundary throw ins were super short all day, I reckon this really stifled our handball away from the contest game.
Also super pissed off how much WC were allowed to come over the mark and run in to the mark in the wrong way all game. Late in the game the umpires were reticent to give us some holds and various infringements that we deserved. How many goals did they get from free kicks, can someone who gets the advertiser put up their f50 mid d50 free kick breakdown. Still, not too bad of a day from the umpires.

Effort- a step behind all day, couldn’t win a contest to my eye

Bond - sorry, but I’m pessimistic, can’t be relied on when he has the ball.
Jones did nothing in a half
Curtin mostly invisible

Ugly
Lots of bathwater was drunk. Most of all by our coaches. 3 talls is precarious. It works because of the personnel, not because the system is genius. Burgess is not up to it, and the forward line looked dysfunctional. I hope they have learned - we need a plan B. Dawson? Curtin? 2 talls?

Faaaaark…… we ain’t winning it this year. Been saying it all year. Will gladly be proven wrong but just can’t see it.

Our midfield is just too thin, unless Rankine is in there. And we need him forward. Really missing Rachelle.

Taylor was very good, Pedlar also. Best games for both of them for the year.

If any opposition coach wants to see a blueprint for how to beat us, there it was.

Flood our forward line, don’t let our talls get a look at it without being double and triple teamed, it’s what they did all game. Along with manic pressure in the midfield.

Geez we looked flat from the first bounce. I hope that was our worst game for the possible 6 remaining.

Oh, and Jones and Burgess DELIST as soon as possible please. Neither are AFL standard.

the more depth we build the less we need to hang onto list filler experienced players. Jones however has still not reached that stage. I just think he will struggle to make it back to that best 23 status when we have a fully fit squad.

But curious about which part, the goal on the back of what Curtin did? the lack of tackling pressure where a player jogged around him? the shitty disposal that cost us goals, the standing out the back of packs waiting for cheap ball?

He absolutely dominated the second half and will get coaches votes
