Some great comments on the port board

And yet by all reports will get NWM and that will improve them massively.I've been reading the Port board and they are in a world of pain.
The best thing is the knowledge that they are 13th, probably won't make finals and yet don't even have a 1st round pick this year.

He was overall pretty good. Those two mistakes cost us 2 goals though so room for improvement.A few here have mentioned Laird giving away the 50m penalty for "pushing" after the mark, honestly I think that was one of the softest 50m penalties I've ever seen. He barely even touched the guy and he took a swan dive. Shouldn't have been paid.
Laird was like most of our team last night, alright in patches but down overall. Did some nice things, not great but certainly not our worst.
He also made a lot of defensive mistakes and cost goals.21 disposals in first half
11 in second
I feel the same really.I feel good about the game, but largely because the hill was packed and not ideal for viewing, I probably didn't take in much of the quality of our play or lack thereof, and you know, we beat the ****ing Power and took back the ledger which is really what I'm about at Showdowns.
Never should have gotten that close at the end, and really we do need to review our strategies for holding a lead. The fact that we couldn't find any chip kicks for an entire 10 minute window isn't great.
I chose not to spend the evening frustrated about Nicks rather than trolling every Port fan that I know in increasingly merciless ways, because we get very few things to celebrate as a fan and **** missing that opportunity.

Could and should replace Milera at half back.Wings are a problem, but I think it's time to put the Cumming wing experiment to bed. Might as well play Curtin there and get another forward/mid into the side.

Yes. That may get them 2 but without him it will set them back a long way just like the loss of Houston.Butters says hello
Absolutely.Laird should never have even given the umpire the opportunity to pay a 50.
That’s why it is so infuriatingly dumb by Laird.
We all know it often takes a couple of years before a player can start to be a game changer, but you never know other players may jump a sinking shipYes. That may get them 2 but without him it will set them back a long way just like the loss of Houston.
A more interesting part of the 'did we go too defensive' side of things is why were we so poor at it. No clock control, no possession, seemingly no system designed to milk out the game.
Didn't feel like a team that knows what to do in that situation.

Thanks much appreciated![]()
The midfield lacks a bit of power.
Soligo is down and/or carrying something, Dawson got well held and Rankine isn't in there to be defensive, but he does need to improve it.
We've seen against the slower midfields like Carlton, St Kilda etc we're fine. Speed kills.
If they love Kenny as much as they say they do, and it does appear so, then it could happen. We all know it often takes a couple of years before a player can start to be a game changer, but you never know other players may jump a sinking ship
We tend to play reasonably well against themSo we will be fine against Colllingwood.
Probably front runners. But you never knowAnd yet by all reports will get NWM and that will improve them massively.
By what metrics? His role requires ground ball gets and handballing to better users. He is doing that fine.
But having a great season? That would mean he is clearly undroppable which is definitely not the case.
If they had him last night for example they would have won.Probably front runners. But you never know

And yet they could add NWM and get given Cochrane for free the year after.Thats the toughest thing for a fanbase to swallow.
The one positive of 2024 was that we got a top 4 elite midfield talent (disregard he is stuck in the SANFL right now).
