I agree with your analysis and it scares the sh*t out of me - it’s got the poor finals selections from 2 years ago written all over it☹
Stanley is our best ruck , he’s not perfect , but he’s the best we’ve got. Play Sav instead of him and we concede the ruck - that’s a disaster against the Dees , Swans, Dogs and Power.
We are well set up and building - we cannot shot ourselves in the foot by being “too clever” in finals again

I absolutely agree but that would require them to drop sav when cameron returns and i dont see that...they seem to be a big fan of him. But i hope we pick stanley i fear if we go with sav in the ruck it will cost us a flag.

The other option is we go taller and pick both which is possible but less likely imo.

Don't want to put the moz on us, but I think after the antics from gws with the Cameron transfer last year we will have eyed off this clash as one to really hit hard. Could it be a coach killer?
Moz us or coach killer? Presume you are referring to their coach but how does that moz us? Anyway, I think I get your point and was thinking this game will have a bit more feeling if JC actually plays.

i think that will be the plan, of course depending on who and where we play.

I think its as much about where we play as who. At the wider mcg it can be hard to carry the extra tall and still have enough forward pressure-at smaller grounds it can work.

A question that doesn't deserve it's own thread: have we finally solved our ruck issue? Since Stanley's come back in, we've thrashed a Nankervis-led Tigers ruck attack in the hit outs 44-25, and on the weekend beat Goldstein 31-29.

Improved, but I don't know if it's solved just yet, probably need a bigger block of games to be sure.

Having said that, we've gone from 14th (2020) to 5th this year scoring from center bounce clearances so Stanley is a big reason for it I'd guess.

It's my way of saying I don't want to hex us by appearing over-confident. But I just have a feeling we are going to absolutely destroy them somehow. As a club I think we've got a point to prove against their mob.

I know some of the posters here always say ''gotta feeling this might be an upset/close one etc.'' for pretty much every match there is in H/A season.

Well this might be mine, however having the home advantage and hopefully a few solid players back from injury will prove me wrong.

Cats by 12 points.

P.S (Got this feeling we'll do fine against Melbourne)

Stanley in the ruck isn’t an issue any more. They spoke about it on first crack last night. Visually you might say he is our weakness but statistically our work around stoppages over the last 6 weeks has been amazing. Along with all the other key stats too. This is probably the last game we can “manage” players. Then it’s 2 weeks before the bye then hopefully 3 wins over the 4 weeks.

Does the vfl team really have another bye? That’s a joke if true has to call the vfl season into question if they can’t play the games. How are they going to make up the games? If we had a seconds competition run by the AFL then they could just make the teams play before the senior teams.

The next day*. In case the medi sub and carry over emergency aren’t required. Especially with our game being on the Friday night.

Reading the GWS board, fair chance there'll be no Mummy, Davis or Hopper - so those are 3 really big outs for them.

Go in unchanged IMO, and give Freddy and Zuth another chance to show their wares (especially Zuth after his performance last week and it being his brother's milestone game). Close can have a rest and maybe give Frankie or Clark a go. Narkle out for mine too, with maybe Holmes to come in as well. Cameron can have another week to get cherry ripe.

Cameron back?

Cameron wants to play, but word is that they’ll hold him back another week and give him Saints and Dees as a run into the pre-finals bye.

Cold Friday night at the Cattery …. Nah wrap the boy up and keep throwing Sav out there to bang and crash.

Davis and hopper were concussed. They won’t be able to play.

We should not play Sav (a part time ruck) at the expense of a specialist ruck in Stanley. At the moment, Sav is crashing packs which has the side effect of reducing Rohan’s marking efforts. Having Sav in the team with Cameron, Hawkins and Rohan is overkill.
