Hats off to Titus O'Reilly: "Richmond’s Sydney Stack even threw an imaginary spear at the Essendon players, but there was no outcry like when Adam Goodes did it towards Carlton supporters. Perhaps that’s progress, or perhaps it’s just the fact everyone knows Essendon players have had plenty of experience of sharp objects being poked into them."

Fox footy report card

RICHMOND

The Tigers might not have Alex Rance, Jack Riewoldt or Trent Cotchin at the moment, but they look like the sleeping giants of the competition right now after completely outplaying Essendon for most of Saturday night’s Dreamtime at the ‘G clash. Three straight wins, despite their extensive injury list, is simply stunning. Given their experience at the pointy end, they’re right in the flag mix - again.

IN THE VOTES

Dustin Martin returned to form on the MCG last Sunday, but on Saturday night he went to another level in slippery conditions, amassing 35 disposals to be one of the best on the ground. Bachar Houli won the medal after starring across half-back, where he mastered the conditions and found the ball 37 times, while Liam Baker produced his best game yet and Dion Prestia made an impact.

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT

Richmond looked home at three-quarter time but they left the door open. Essendon stormed from six goals down to get within a few kicks, ensuring the last 10 minutes was much more intriguing that it looked like it was going to be.

THE MAGOOS

He missed out on a call-up to Dreamtime at the ‘G, but ruckman Mabior Chol responded in the best way by winning the Sir Doug Nicholls Medal as the best on ground in Richmond’s VFL win over Essendon. Chol had 22 touches and a goal while Jack Graham bagged two majors to go along with his 16 disposals.

GRADE

A

That’s a pretty fair report.

Garths going nowhere. Not sure if 192cm is still accurate, but he definitely plays taller/bigger than Broad.

When Rance gets back(whether its later this year or next year), Im convinced the coaches will want Rance playing loose or on lesser fwds like McGovern does, and to do this we will need Garth to step up and play a key post with Astbury. Imagine Grimes and Rance playing as 3rd and 4th talls/mediums. Will be impenetrable. Garth is important to our structure and can play as well.
Great summation agree Garth more important than Broad

change will probably be menadue out to make way for cotch although he is a bit stiff as has shown some good things of late...
The problem Menadue has is that more recent Recruits are out playing him. Some of them completely out playing him so unless he does something really special then he's just a backup player.
I'm sure he's playing to the best of his ability and in truth it's certainly not bad but the Richmond recruiters are exceptional and even our rookies are awesome.

I don't get all the Broad vs Garth talk. Neither will be in any danger of playing in the VFL until Rance returns.

Even if Rance returns, Broad stays. Having another great year.

Huh? You actually left the room to take a piss while the game was on? Haven't you heard of empty stubbies.
Was watching the game with my brother and his wife not really an option mate
