Thought we had very little chance of getting the four points especially with the outs and I got put in my place!
With some of the older guys out and the kids coming in it felt like that drive to win was back. You could see the difference in work rate compared to last week. Parker, Dow Ralphsmith all looked great. Marlion and Rioli down back looked like a million bucks. Balta brilliant.
Nank led from the front and it felt like with Grimes out Cotch went back into captain mode and said come with me. I still don't like on field double captains.
Terrific win bring on the saints.

We are currently the most efficient side when it comes to turning inside 50s into scores. We had 58% efficiency last week and 57% this week.
That’s fantastic news because it means that we don’t have as much of those pointless kicks inside 50 that are picked off too easily by the opposition defenders.

A jack/lynch/balta forward line should be good when it fires.
Whoever ends up on the 3rd defender will have a field day. Throw a resting soldo or nank down there and our mosquito fleet could evolve into a 4 headed monster

Pretty awesome win today, played a pretty solid first quarter. Thought our backline was a total rock, especially in that first quarter and pretty much set the tone for the whole game.
Many to like today, but loved Ralphsmiths game, looks like we have a player there. Just needs to tidy up his disposal.

Our rucks playing well is everything for us. Completely changes our midfield look. Big test next week!! But either way we saw enough of a future look today. Thought Tarrants spoils were excellent today, i was worried the defence would look like the Geelong praccy match without Grimes.
Vlas and Jack are interesting as to how we bring them back. For me Short, Rioli and Hugo worked great together and provided the perfect amount of run we needed. Can we afford to lose one from the back 6? Already have Grimes (Miller), Tarrant, Broad, Gibcis + the 3 smalls. An 8th defensive rotation is too many and leaves the mids light on. Likewise our forwards today with the resting ruck was plenty. Adding the other tall just makes us slow around the ground.

First game I have attended for some time.
With so many regular stars out, it was a superb performance.
Amongst the newer players, Hugo was excellent, his ability to shift from defence to forward is a real plus.
Parker was excellent too.

Passage of play where Hugo made an initial error but regrouped and set up a chain which resulted in a goal.

Unfortunately I think Jack’s days have closed in quicker than anyone else’s and mostly in a defensive sense . Not surprising really given his chasing is often in space chasing smaller quick players

Tremendous mid-air bump by Pickett, the GWS player coughed up the ball, it resulted in a goal.
We lose a mid to do that though. Makes us vulnerable to getting overrun. Likewise Vlas coming back into defence. Todays structure looked perfect. 7 defenders rotating through the 6 spots. Plenty of speed.
Realistically Vlas needs Gibcus spot. Grimes for Miller. Otherwise our structure changes and slows again.
