Those not wanting to keep Renouf.... Just think who would you rather if Lobbe and Redden get injured. Some nobody beanpole project rookie ruck or a guy who has at least proven that he can more than compete at the AFL level... I sure know who I would want!

i typed that poorly... we need Renouf, however i think everyone thinks we also need another growing ruckman. i was simply saying i don't like the idea of 2 ruckman on the rookie list although a second may be too good to pass on.

don't forget Hitchcock recommitted

So Frazer Dale is out of contention then?

well to me he is,i really like who i've picked but, darcy cameron, frazer dale & hourigan probably on a par but we only get 3 picks hell i picked jonno marsh in the main draft and he went pick 70 odd to collingwood FUGGITALL :D

Dear everybody.

Kane Mitchell is still on the rookie list. Not including Renouf, we can only draft two rookies.

Karl Amon is very similar, so he might find it tough. Personally I would've rather we used that pick on Dale TBH.

To all the Cameron Conlon lovers I have a few questions.

Why are you so keen on a guy that has played 2 TAC cup games in 2 years and a couple of AIS games and has spent the last 18 months injured?? What are you basing that on? How much footage or real live in the flesh have you seen of him play?

Is it just a punt based on what he did at the U/16 championships and the fact he was given an AIS scholarship which they hand out to kids with plenty of potential about 60-70% have played at least 1 AFL game up to and including the 2009 intake?

Does anyone know how bad his injuries really are?

is it really that serious reh,i've watched "A" clip and read "2 or 3 right ups"
obviously would depend on a medic. rep. which we dont have, well i dont anyway,
i like what a fully mature and fit player of his abilities bring. imo

I have no idea how serious it is. I had never heard of the bloke until 2 weeks ago. Then when I started reading about him there is so little on him because he has virtually missed 2 full seasons with injuries.

I know we lucked out getting Jacko, he was injured and missed half of his second U/18 year and a fair chunk of his first year on our list and only - just checked - played the last 7 games of 2009 in the SANFL.

I'm not questioning anyone about the correctness of their desire to draft him, just the metrics you are using as there is so little evidence out there about him. Jacko was worth the risk based on what he had done in a season and half of U/18 footy before his injury, Conlon has done almost nothing in 2 seasons of U/18 footy.

I like Hourigan because I saw him play about 5 quarters of footy over 2 U/18 games for SA, not the 4 minute video the AFL put together. I also read a bit and I guess have dug a little further after 3 months ago finding out he is the youngest player to ever debut for South Adelaide at 15.5 years of age. Now debuting in 2010 for South at 15 would be easier than debuting in 1990 or 1980 at 15 when the SANFL was relatively a lot stronger comp. But it says to me the kid must have something.

I've dubbed him the Kitchener Bun Kid not to belittle him, but because he is carrying a bit of weight and recruiters have probably harshly rated him based on that.

as a conlan lover i wish i had some exclusive v-clip or inside info to share cause i seen him play somewhere but i dont, there is lots of profile info out there on him and they all seem to say the same things as youve probably discovered,in one of them i remember it saying pre-injury he was predicted by those in the know he may go as high as pick 6 in this yrs draft being the best tall behind boyd, for me IF he passes the medico.,as a rookie he'll do me.

rumoursofwinter will be happy that Jed Redden is free. I think he wanted to take him at 21 - seeing he mentioned him in the who should we get with pick 21 thread.

I was also keen on Conlon after watching his highlights but here's some pertinent comments from Knightmare on judging him only by that short clip:

Conlon doesn't excite me. It was a very small sample size. The first two games of 2012 were excellent with the rest ok but not great.

and

Keep in mind with Conlon that he never had more than 5 marks in a game. Worth checking out the stats also: http://www.sportingpulse.com/team_i...=1-3020-111703-150804-14534646&ocompID=206344

Not a whole lot to be inspired about other than those first two games.

Conlon is a rookie chance but he's someone I'd ultimately like to see come back to the TAC next year and see how he stacks up against next years crop of quality talls and to see whether he has improved or added anything to his game as he's been out a long time and it's hard to gauge exactly where he's at having spent so much time on the sidelines.

Yeah Venter doesn't count on that list but Ross has left out Mitchell who would take his place.

Conlon's injury history scared clubs, nearly two seasons wiped out with shoulder, knee and hip injuries. It's going to be a brave club to take the risk.

We can have 6 rookies can't we? 4 normal rookies + Flynn and Venter?

My understanding is we can have 4 rookies (we have 2 veterans) - Venter and Flynn don't count on the rookie list. So it would be

Mitchell
Drummond
Conlon
Renouf

then Venter (3 year rule) and Flynn (international) outside the list.
