Round 1, 22 changes

Though many on here will not be pleased Wood will be playing forward. Has spent the entire pre season training there anf will continue to play there for at the very least the first part of the year.

I don’t like it, but I can see in theory why we’d do it. It adds a strong aerial threat to the front half of the ground without sacrificing anything at ground level.

Hopefully Naughton, Young & Cordy are up to filling his shoes in defence.

Good thing is opposition won’t know who will play forward and in game it will change constantly, making match ups difficult and not allowing defences to settle.

But that could also mean as a forward had we will also be unsettled.

I’ve never been less sure of how the team was going to setup heading into a season and now I’m even more confused. Players I thought would play back are now playing forward and players that might have gone forward now seem like staying back.

True, but last year we were playing guys like Lin Jong, Dahl, Wallis etc who aren't classy down there. We got the ball in and couldn't convert. Now we've seemingly slotted Wood, Bont and Macrae down there to play larger minutes and they SHOULD be a lot more efficient.

Will post my side after next JLT game but I believe Williams and Croizer are fighting for the same spot. They’re similar players but I back Williams because of his run and carry, but Crozier can leap a bit higher than Williams.

Jong turned the ball over 3 times by hand in the first half alone. Should be dropped for Wallis, Clay or even Webb hopefully. I'd even give Porter a go.

No.

Neither played forward, hence limited goals. They are both a lot more highly skilled than others we;ve had go through was my point. Although Wood doesn't come across as a natural goalkicker, he is atleast threatening in the air.

Don't mind this side as long as McLean plays he is a certain starter.

Yes depth is dependent on young kids to an extent but there is competition for places in the side from these kids and others that's a good thing.

If Sucking, Fletch, Webb, Jong, Campbell and others like Scache and Collins are your depth plus two that miss out from above it's not a bad scenario. Depth players need not be stars but as long as they do what's asked of them that suffices as that gives pressure for places in the side.

Dickson has pretty much had an uninterrupted pre season, I am not sure why he did not play last week but if he is injured , it has only happened very recently. Wallis was seen having a scan but nothing heard since then.

It would not be that hard, during the pre season, for the club to put out a weekly bulletin updating the fans on players who have injuries and how they are tracking. Even the guy on the website who describes injuries during the season, only mentions who he wants to, never the full compliment of injured players. It is bullshit that paid up members and supporters are not told why players such as Wallis, Dickson and Boyd did not play on Saturday.
