MRO might force the hand for dropping Acres. That moment in the first where he denied a open switch to the corridor before being told to play on and panic kick turnover down the line was terrible. According to Schofield on the Fox coverage JLo gave a big quarter time spray for continually ignoring options for the switch or into the corridor.

Acres is going end up the next Rhys Conca if he can’t sort out his disposal and decision making. He had 8 turnovers.

Also as much as I love Heath Chapman he is becoming a bit of a liability in the backline. Opposition teams are putting goal sneaks onto him (Rachele and Higgins) in the knowledge that he isn’t a match-up that can handle the zippy small forwards. Wilson and Walker need to come into the picture.

Frederick and Banfield are next to useless at the moment.

We can’t have so many talls in the backline. Chapman and Logue out. Hamling and Pearce to take the KPF and Cox the spare. Jordan Clarke to the Wing. Walker or Wilson into the starting 18.

Six changes is a lot more than usual but is warranted.

In: Taberner, Cox, Walker, Mundy, Erasmus, O’Driscoll, Crowden (sub)
Out: Darcy (inj), Logue, Chapman, Acres (suspended or dropped), Banfield, Frederick
Hate to break it to you mate, but it's typically defenders that go to forwards, not the other way around. If Chappy is playing on a 'goal sneak' it's because JL has instructed him to go to that player.

What Freo have been doing skill wise has not been working since day dot of the club.
How do the other clubs replicate pressure ? Why are Freo always trailing the best clubs in skills and injury prevention. Surely in 20 or so years the club would have solved the problem.
My Eagles supporting friend says they all call us the Fremantle Noodles - apply heat for 2 minutes and we go soft.

Sadly, I have no answers to that one :(

JL and the club owes us some honest answers to some questions...

1. What is the game plan? Is it the first half against Adelaide, or what we saw yesterday? If it's the latter, my will to live will be fingernail deep.
2. Where are things at with Erasmus, Sturt, Treacy and Walker? I see no obvious reason why at least three of them shouldn't be in our 22.
3. What is the thinking around Acres, Banfield, Colyer and other players who are obviously deep depth and why are they starting ahead of some of our exciting youth?
4. What is the plan for Walters? Positional shift? Is attitude the problem? Is retirement being spoken about? The situation has the potential to be a festering sore and needs to be dealt with sooner rather than later.
5. What is the go with having some much investment put into defensive players and how can that talent be better utilised in other areas of the ground? Chapman, Cox, Logue, Young, Clark and Walker all can't play in the same backline, yet all have best 22 talent...****, most of them are first round draft picks!

Obviously we're not going to get answers to these, but if the club's coaching hierarchy is not actively analysing them, they should hand in their notice.

I'm not one that is an overly demanding supporter/member, but the poor souls who have poured their money and emotional energy into this club, at least deserve some solace that the issues above are being addressed and hard decisions are being considered.

Bit of a rant but whatever I paid for my ticket.

Midfield was smashed in the contest and when the ball was there to be won we were second to it all afternoon. Defence held up well for the first half but once the Saints starting getting repeat entries in the 3rd Max King was too much to handle for Pearce individually.

When you’ve got names like Ross, B. Crouch, Sinclair, Steele (who’s admittedly a gun but below his best to start the season) bullying our midfield group then there’s a real problem, at the moment we’re still too heavily reliant on our older brigade in Mundy and Fyfe to win the contest and get our other boys into the game, when they’re not there to win the footy our structure goes to water. Unfortunately losing Cerra compounds this problem negatively and while I have high hopes for Amiss and Erasmus they most likely won’t be able to become a stopgap for his influence in the short term.

Disappointing to see Tucker only have 4 contested possessions for the match when he’s probably one of the more mature and developed among our younger brigade, not sure the wing is really suited to him as he should be using his big body in the coalface extracting the footy, would really like to see him start in the centre square more often.

Forward line was a shambles but to be honest we got what we deserved when we announced our lineup for the week. You look at that forward 50 lineup and you wonder where all of our goals will come from, will Lobb magically kick a bag of 5? Even after then what happens? Where will our extra goals come from? Switta? Shultz? Meek? Bailey **** Banfield? We were never, in any existence, going to score anything near 100 points with that forward line setup. Josh Treacy was a no brainer to start this game and it was an absolute missed opportunity for him not to.

Out: Walters, Banfield, Frederick, Acres, Darcy/Meek.
in: Noddy, Erasmus, Mundy, Cox, Taberner (if fit).

Walters has had enough chances, I have no earthly idea why he wasn’t rotated through the middle for more than literally 1 CBA when we’re getting pantsed all day in there, but he wasn’t so he shouldn’t be in the team, he isn’t a forward anymore. Noddy to start on the wing next week as he did throughout the entire preseason and performed well but for some reason the match committee decided it was a good idea to hand the lad a debut as the medical sub and make him wait until halfway through the last quarter to actually get him on the ground.

Pearce, Hamling and Cox can’t all play together in defence. Cox has shown the most as a forward and SHOULD be trialled there to see if he can do a Naughton and actually give us a forward 50 target that can take a contested mark who isn’t Rory Lobb.

Shoutout to Andy Brayshaw who tried his guts out all day despite very few of his teammates doing the same. Mad respect to the kid.

FB. Ryan, Pearce, Logue
HB. Clark, Hamling, Young
C. Aish, Mundy, O’Driscoll
HF. Erasmus, Cox, Shultz
FF. Switkowski, Taberner, Lobb
R. Darcy/Meek, Brayshaw, Tucker

I/C. Brodie, Colyer, Chapman, Serong.
Sub. Walker

Erasmus looks ready and deserves an opportunity to strut his stuff just like what Horne, Daicos, Ward, MacDonald, Rachele, Martin, NWM, etc have done for their respective clubs. Oh and none of this debuting as the medical sub crap. Shit should be outright banned.

The more I look at that it's too slow and the opposite of agile

On the brightside, I'm pretty positive that will be our worst performance for the year. I'm also pretty positive we'll still win this week and by some miracle, come out of the first three weeks with a 2-1 ledger.

There is plenty of room / time to turn this season around but it's got to start with selections this week

Historically, we've responded after putting out tripe and I think any kind of response will be enough to beat WC at the moment.

Hell, I'll wager we manage to win the next two (GWS look soft as butter at the moment and hate coming over here) and are 3-1.

That 3-1 ledger will mean diddly squat if it doesnt come with better footy though...

How did the club think keeping Banfield and playing Meek, Darcy and Lobb would work? Longmuirs comments about Erasmus having never played against men made my blood boil, we had two meaningless preseason games to get him that game time and decided to not even give him a look. There are so many things this club does that I just don't understand.

It could have been worst, we could have snuck away with another win and go in the the Derby like we did yesterday. We'd then be coughing it up without a fight, they need this rocket up them.

Yeah how could anyone watch that yesterday and be confident of winning next week?
I'm feeling pretty shell shocked. As I said before, I thought the Adelaide game was excusable for several reasons and I was extremely confident we'd account for a shit St Kilda going nowhere itself on our home deck
I'm honestly not confident we'd beat any team next week. Maybe North at Optus. That's it.

I’m holding judgement till I see the team selection.
No way that putrid crap can be tolerated.
I want to see western in as a small forward, maybe for Frederick or Colyer. Have to reward peel form.
Erasmus in for Banfield
Noddy in for acres
Walker in for someone in the defensive half - shuffle some magnets around if you have to like Chapman to the midfield/HFF, I don’t care but Walker better be playing this week.
Sonny - I’m on the fence as to give him another last shot or not. He’s still more likely to kick goals than most of our forwards if we can get the ball in his hands inside 50.
Cox and Mundy come back in - maybe hamling and Darcy go out, assuming Darcy is ruled out with injury.

Because "it's never as good or as bad as it seems"

I'm as disillusioned / depressed as anyone but I recognise we are absolutely not as bad a team as Sunday would make you think. WC are a WAFL team at the moment due to Covid.

Like I said, it wont matter if we play shit footy to get there anyway

They're not going to be a WAFL team next weekend. They're getting plenty back

Show your workings...There is nothing in the first two weeks that would suggest that

Thinking Think GIF by Rodney Dangerfield

Even slightest of the slightest wetness on ground, we will lose even to a bottom 4 team. Need to send a petition signed by freo and west coast supporters to Mark McGovern to add a roof to the optus stadium(eagles also play worse in wet).

On SM-A205YN using BigFooty.com mobile app
We should also demand from AFL HQ to strap Our opposition players with some extra weight because most of them run to much and to fast...

We were actually decent against Adelaide bar one quarter and I've seen us play decent football over the last two years.

Apologies all, as we are still clearly trying to come to terms with yesterday and not interested in coming out of our depression, I will get back on board.

We will lose by 50 points to WC this weekend and I will have to close the Freo board for the rest of the year

And mundy and cox actually do have covid so what are the chances they won't be back by next week too?
Where have you heard this?

I'm positive Mundy doesnt have it, he was a close contacts from his kids, I understood Cox to have just been a close contact
