Of late, some in the media have been very forthcoming in their views that things have turned very sour down at Cockburn. Some of the stories and their advocates are:

  • Danyle Pearce was offered a send off game but told the club to shove it. Was disgusted by the way Johnno and himself were forced out.(Hagdorn)
  • A number of player's agents have approached the club with complaints about how their charges have been treated (Hagdorn)
  • One young player, in particular, was abused so badly that his parents became involved (Hardie) and is considering laying a formal complaint ( Hagdorn)
  • Lyon's conduct in the box and at the 3/4 time huddle after the Gaff-Brayshaw incident has come under heavy fire from within the club (Hagdorn)
  • Brad Lloyd was royally pissed when the club resigned Ballantyne and Bennell because "Ross told them they would be resigned" and walked out the door. (Hagdorn) This would imply that it is probably not the first time it has happened
Now, granted, that there are many punters who don't rate Hardie or Hagdorn at all but I not one of them. They would have a far greater idea as to what is going on than the vast majority of Bigfooty posters, with all due respect.

The dismal effort against the Cats is clear evidence that things are not right down there. The old adage about smoke and fire springs top mind here.

Rosich has declared Lyon safe but, ultimately, it is the board that makes the call.

Can any of you punters shed any light on these rumours?

Heard this morning that Dale Alcock has called an emergency meeting at 2pm today in Cockburn.

Hasnt been confirmed if its regarding Freo or his building company, but the fact its in Cockburn and not Osborne Park (where Dale Alcock Homes is located) points to it being Freo related.

Great things are afoot.

Ross Lyon deserves to be sacked asap, he has an air on invisibility about him (got away with sexual harrassment, clearly going above other staff members to make stupid contract decisions and carries on in press conferences like he is Damian Hardwick or Clarko) when in actual fact his team is the laughing stock of the competition. Who signs 3 has beens in Ballantyne, Sandilands and Bennell all in the space of a week. Freo are destined to always be rubbish and they should be disqualified from the comp. They can't attract big name players, they can't keep decent players and they will never win a flag.

This just not true. We have attracted Brad Hill, Nathan Wilson and Joel Hamling of late. The best players we have lost are Roberton, Weller and Crozier.

Clearly things have turned sour this season at Freo and something needs to change.

Snipped this from the worst as to why Rosich may be backing Lyon in for the next few years.

Lyon’s contract was extended to the end of 2020 after claiming the minor premiership in 2015

This season the cap sits at $9.58 million. You can spend more than that, but any dollar over the cap comes with a 75 per cent ‘luxury tax’. So if you want to spend an extra $100,000 above the cap, it’s actually going to cost you $175,000. Make sense?

Lyon is understood to be one of the highest-paid coaches in the competition and even if it was front-ended, the most modest estimations point to him having at least $1.6 million left on his contract. It’s likely closer to $2 million.

If Fremantle have already budgeted to spend the full football department cap, which most clubs aim to, that means there would be basically no wiggle room when it came to the next coach’s contract.

If the Dockers wanted to get rid of Lyon, the new coach’s $700,000 wage would likely all be outside the cap, attracting a luxury tax of $525,000 per year.

Essentially it leaves them $1.225 million worse off in each of the next two seasons

If we split the difference and say Lyon has $1.8 million remaining on his contract, then add the luxury tax over the remaining years, the Dockers would be paying $2.85 million just to get rid of him. To put it in context, that’s about $53 per member.

If the new coach wants to make changes to his assistants, or if any of the current assistants or footy staff are loyal to Ross and don’t want to stick around, the number creeps even higher.

Not at all. Apparently the abuse was extremely personal and went well beyond the pale.

Apparently. Paste the article of this please.

Why would parents get involved? The player has a manager to deal with this stuff.

Wasn’t your mob discussing Sandilands? So it’s ok for him to play for you guys, but he couldn’t possibly be needed as a ruck/coach for our 3 young blokes Darcy Jones & Meek?

We haven’t lost any players and have attracted some decent guys like Wilson Hill Hamling.

Get a clue

Scott Jones hasn’t played since that Hawthorn game..because allegedly they say it happened rd 19. I remember Jones was interviewed during the week about playing in the derby...then out of nowhere was dropped and didn’t even play for peel that weekend. Hmm?

Board Meeting today suggests 1 thing out of the following happens
a - Lyon sacked
b- Rosich quits or sacked
c - all of the above
