You have to understand how terrified the free marketeers are of a giant economic downturn. This is Morrison in the denial stage of grief because his entire world (ie neoliberal economics, supposed to have the answer for everything) has been torn down around him.
So true he just worked out santa wasnt real

On the other hand, Morrison is only one COVID-19 death away from minority government.

The health experts keep saying “get used to the idea that things are going to be very different for quite a while.” Same will apply to politics.

Desperation: a govt member dies & the opposition wins a by election - maybe just try a bit harder to win because the people thought your policies were for them.
Tip, stop talking to the rusted on, you'll never win a majority forming a circle - in furious agreement with like minded.

So about that first stimulus, Scomo said $750 to be paid 31 March.

That's now 'mid-April' according to centrelink

Welfare recipients will receive the $750 as part of their next payment that falls after the 31st of March.

That was always the case.
The govt didn't want that money spent in the first quarter which they had already written off as bad, they wanted that money spent in the second quarter because they probably thought this whole thing would have blown over by the end of June.

A man so totally, completely and utterly out of his depth.

We’ve never before had somebody so unfit for the office. And it’s coincided in the biggest disaster we’ve had since World War II.

Abbott would be better. Much better.

Morrison makes you want Tony Abbott. That’s how he’s going.

Clear thinking, direction and communication is required. Morrison is totally incapable of it.

They say “you get the government you deserve”, which is mostly true. Australia deserves this for decades of political apathy.

All we can do is hope Andrews and Gladys can drag the place through.

We are the type of people who would get suckered by this ;)

strange strategy, clearing the decks is the norm.

He’s an awful communicator.
Can someone tell him that he just needs to state the updated restrictions.

he can add the smirky shit later if he feels it is necessary

Gladys just let 2700 people, including over 100 infected off a ship before their test results were known.

She should be in jail.

Have we worked out if it was Gladys' or Potatohead's fault yet?

Abbot is fundamentally a 'doer.'

He gets shit done. Often times that shit is horrible but he does get it done.

Abbott would have us locked down in a police state right now.

I don't like the fact they are not sitting in parliament (I think they can do it digitally) but MP's do alot of work in their local community's. (At least mine does)

I don’t think there are any plans for a virtual sitting.

And why isn’t the leader of the opposition in the national cabinet ?

Yawn, heard it all before.

“Desperation”?

Absolutely.

I’m desperate for decent leadership in this country. Both now, when we face an unprecedented crisis, and later, when we’ve weathered the storm, and we can start unlocking this country’s immense potential instead of suffering through the actions of a superficial, pathological liar whose every action is predicated only on shoring up his own advantage.

And now I think about it, I’m desperate for people to realise that Morrison’s government has always only been hanging by a thread. You’d think May was a landslide.

Considering the predictions for the effects on society if we cop the virus really badly, it’s hardly “desperate” to observe that the makeup of the nation’s parliament is unlikely to be an exception.

Maybe read up a bit on US President Woodrow Wilson’s erratic behaviour at Versailles after falling victim to influenza in the great 1918-19 epidemic. Didn't that end well?
