The current Dean is playing the same type of game as Welsh. I dare say if Soloman was still in the side, Welsh would be playing in defense like he has for the rest of his career. I watched Solly play today, he played pretty good I thought.

Talking of the Essendon 'don't argue' policy, in watching the replay I noticed McVeigh keeping his mouth shut when in previous years, and as recently as the NAB Cup, he would have launched a tyrade of abuse at the umpire and given away 50. Mark's certainly pulled his head in this year.
That, along with his good form, could well mean he'll join the leadership group next year in my opinion.

Discipline issues aside, he's actually been quite good for us IMO. Hitting the packs hard and laying a lot of tackles, which is what we picked him up for.
Just needs to pull his head in on the off-ball stuff.

My view is that Welsh has pulled his head in, he played angry the last few years, really improved his discipline Woosha.
No he's not.
The official leadership group consists of Lloyd as captain with Dustin Fletcher and David Hille as his deputies.
There are plenty of other leaders at the club not in an official and Mark comes under this category. I wouldn't be surprised to see him promoted to an official role.

He's been decent for them getting involved in quite a few goals but we're not missing him. Hopefully Houli and Reimers make it a great trade for us.

He was a favourite of many of the Essendon fans. As long as he keeps doing the things that we got rid of him for, our decision to get rid of him will be vindicated and it will make people more at ease with letting him go.

Never forget your premiership players. Solly was a good footballer for us but his injuries made it hard for him to perform at his best and he did have discipline problems (along with McVeigh, MJ and a few others)

i have noticed the dons arguing less this year. from an umpires perspective its bloody smart as at the end of the day arguing with the umpire wont change his decision... really smart by sheeds.

He was a genuinely tough flanker, with talent to boot. Versatile, he could run off half back or set up goals. Massive hits, massive tackles - these were his trademarks. But now he can't stop hitting at the wrong times, which just makes him look like a petty sniper. He's still far better than that

IMO the club will never be vindicated in getting rid of him. the lack of respect shown to some of our players will last...the "new" dean has a different role to fill at freo. they need more of the grunt. there's nothing to say that dean'd act the same if still at essendon
