The next team to challenge Geelong?

Yeah, not like we play them again this year. Must have missed the AFL memo that the second encounter is defaulted to the result of the first

The Dogs have proven incapable of beating decent sides when it's even close to counting. Played their fellow top 4 sides 8 times last year and their only wins were in round 21 when Geelong had nothing to play for, having secured 2nd spot, and 22 over Collingwood when the two were playing off for third. So far this year they've already lost to Collingwood, St Kilda and Brisbane, two of which involved some degree of choking.

Collingwood are still the big challengers at the moment. Freo might have beaten us at Subi but they won't do it in Victoria.

Hawthorn are always in the game against the Cats.

Of course, that means squat if we don't make the finals. But if we do, there would be other teams that they would rather play than the Hawks.

This is a myth. I often hear people say to me, "how come you're tipping Geelong to beat Collingwood/Hawthorn this week."

People for some reason remember the past and forget about the present. Hawthorn's record against Geelong is deplorable apart from that Grand Final. Collingwood beat Geelong once in 2008, the only time they have beaten them since 2007 started.

The truth is, no-one is better than Geelong. Stop trying to pretend teams are able to challenge them, because their record over the past four years speaks for itself, and they don't look like slowing down anytime soon.

I'm hoping for a Geelong/Western Bulldogs Grand Final, not sure if we will get it but that would probably be Geelongs stiffest test on the last Saturday of September, still the Cats to win it again clearly the best side going around!

I like it and i wish to subscribe to your newsletter:thumbsu:

Geelong are still a cut above every other team in the competition. On their day I think St Kilda with Reiwoldt are capable of beating them but if they played 10 times I think Geelong would win 7 or 8.

Hawks will always believe they can beat them, and it was 3-1 leading into the grand final.

Ironically its the reverse of the 88-91 period.

Geelong are the powerhouse and hawks the possible contenders (if they can just get their act together)

07-09-10 would be the eqivalent of 88-89-91 obviously (except hawks didnt play GF in 90 - but did in 83-87

I wouldn't underestimate Freo - it was a solid win (electric game to be at) and travel hasn't been a problem this year... see you in september :D (god it's good to say that.)

Sort of agree with that but being honest, Geelong are the best team in the comp right now. They will win more games against us than we would and coming up against them in Victoria, September or not, Geelong would win way more than they would lose.

In a year or two, that may change but not yet.

freo and carlton look likelyo give them a good shake. can freo beat them away from subiaco?

saturdays game will be a beauty. geelong and melbourne will be closer than we might have expected at the start of the year

Cats will make mince meat out of Melbourne. Men versus boys.

Men vs Boys... Haha we didn't look like boys when we were outplaying your mob recently...

Anyway Geelong will probly belt us this week, but thats OK, as we had a heaps hard game last week.

i think carlton has the goods, although their form is patchy. otherwise collingwood is still the biggest threat.

freo are playing well, but it's still hard to see them going to deep into september

when we were outplaying your mob recently...

I thought we won that one:confused:

Melbourne fans must be excited with all the young guns, but don't get ahead of yourselves, maybe in about three years time you will be in the top four. Young guys need at least 50 to 100 games in them to make an impact for the whole season.

Carlton and the Dogs are the obvious ones. The Pies are probably the 2nd best team in the comp but don't seem to go as well against us as those too. Maybe Freo but prefer to see them win a few more in Melbourne first.
