Jeff Gleeson QC submits for a "significant fine" of between $5000 to $7500, given his remorse and that he has made no attempt to defend his action.

Gleeson says it would be "one of the more significant fines" handed out by the AFL Tribunal, but says it "falls short of warranting a suspension sanction" due to Greene's guilty plea.

no more suspensions....just fines now can be argued for.

Obvious manipulated decision. Only an idiot would think otherwise.

They probably jumped the gun sending it to the tribunal anyway thinking that better footage would emerge.
They were never going to suspend for the hair pulling as they just cleared Merret for a hair pull 2 days earlier.

Some Bulldogs posters even claimed to have seen footage showing the eye gouging clearly but it is yet to surface.
If there was footage showing it then he should clearly be suspended, for weeks not just a week.

Noone is debating Greene's character - but suspensions need to be based on something, not just outrage.

Pretty weak from AFL. Fines of this magnitude are nothing to these guys.

Even if minimal damage has been done to Bont, it's a dirty act and something that nobody wants to the see in the game. If the AFL were fair dinkum about having a clean game then a suspension should have been handed out.

Are the Dogs fans going to stop saying it was eye gauging?

That argument wasn’t even tried to be made, likely Bont confirmed he wasn’t gauged and the scratches were from other incidents as most non dogs fans suspected.

Common sense prevails, although a big fine for some head pushing and hair pulling.

2017: Fined $1000 for striking Port Adelaide midfielder Dan Houston, with the charge graded as low impact to the head.

2017: Hit with a two-match striking suspension after clipping Western Bulldogs midfielder Caleb Daniel with an extremely late spoil attempt.

2018: Fined another $2500 for misconduct the very next week during a semi-final against Collingwood, where he was involved in a back-and-forth with midfielder Taylor Adams.

2019: Slapped with a $2000 fine for striking, having handed Melbourne midfielder Clayton Oliver a tummy tap in an off-the-ball incident

Sorry but this is a disgusting decision. What message are we sending our juniors? You can shove the opposition’s head into the turf, attempt to gouge eyes, scratch the players face and then all you have to do is be remorseful and you can avoid a suspension.

This is an absolute disgrace.

Sometimes it's easy to forget the AFL are in charge of making and manipulating these decisions. Like Ellis and Cotchin in 2017, you're allowed to get away with anything so long as it boosts ratings.

Common sense prevailed.
What a beat up by the Bulldog fans. I would love to see Mark Stevens face right now.
Bro, why have you invested so much time in this thread anyway? Be it through posts or liking anything anti-Bulldogs?

I guess when you support St Kilda, you gotta spend time on something in September hey?

I just want to see the footage that some Dogs fans seem to have that shows the eye gouge. Where is it guys?
Stop with this sh*t. Toby apologised for his hideous behaviour and so he admitted guilt. Being remorseful shouldn’t cut it here. Disgraceful decision by the AFL.
