I have been reading that most Swannies do not think much of Jarred Moore.I must admit I do have reservations about him particularily after TDL said Moore marshalled the forward line and set it up HOWEVER why aren't we trying to trade him when so many have a problem with him.
What's the go????What sort of player or pick could we trade him for?????

1.Despite many supporters thinking otherwise,he is obviously held in high regard by those who actually run the Club.
2.In any trade, the market holds the key to any players value. If the Club doesn't feel they are going to get "equal value"for him, they will hold onto him.
3.He doesn't want to go.
4.This year & next(with the emergence of GC & GWS)means a shift in previous years trade markets. With an improved performance next year his stocks may rise in the trade market
& the other thing.Just because many Swans fans on BF think he's no good means "diddly squat".After the media led/people power "Choose Roos campaign" many falsely believe the appointment of Paul Roos was down to them & people seemingly think they have a say in who comes & goes from the Club.Guess what people.....You don't!
Just my thoughts

No one thinks that at all. This is a forum with a lot of mixed feelings about a lot of different players, just because we don't select the team that doesn't mean we're unable to comment on/disagree with said selections.

I realise that this is a forum whereby anyone is free to comment, but from OP saying things like "most Swannies do not think much of Jarred Moore".
That is opinion,is it not?
Whereas what I said about who selects the team & who decides who comes & goes is up to the Coaches & recruiters.
That is fact.
Its all well & good for people to summise but when it all comes down to it,public opinion means little in the eyes of those in charge.
As much as all Clubs need to move with the times,& change to grow, there are some things that don't change.

Maybe the Club could save a stack of cash & just select the team by SMS poll?

As much as I don't rate Moore myself, I agree with your first few points.

The one I've quoted however, is crap. I doubt any fan on here believes they have any say in how the club is run but that doesn't mean people can't offer up their opinions on how they believe things should be run. Every team board on bigfooty has exactly the same kind of discussions. Nothing at all to do with Roos' unusual appointment.

^ Fair enough that the forum is often a place for footy related social banter and opinion. But gee whiz .... it would be better if a bit of thought goes into self educating and understanding the process before mentioning the 'trade' word?

What's the go????What sort of player or pick could we trade him for?????

Difficult in any situation to get a good or even fair trade deal but it helps massively if:

1. Another club has targeted and is very keen on player
2. Player is willing or even keen to go
3. Existing club is willing to release player

Swans have learnt to put cards on table early.

eg A. Vesz /Everitt first deal done. A fair one , obviously negotiated a while ago. All three above conditions met

eg B. Ed Barlow wants out, who is interested????? At best Swans might find him a home late in trade week but likely to get "stuff all" for him.

Not impossible to trade J Moore (everyone is for sale at a price). BUT REDICULOUSLY unlikely.:)

Moore's football brain is second to none at the Swans - he is such a clever player and reads the play very well. Unfortunately in this age where the clubs love to recruit and play athletic guys, he stands out like a sore thumb and can be made to look slow and clumsy which is what a lot of supporters get stuck into their minds when they think about his play.

I've always found it odd that one of the things the coaches have been critical about Vez for is his lack of pressuring and tackling as a forward...but they let Moore get away with being too slow to create much pressure at all in the forward 50. In packs and small spaces he is fine as he is very strong and has good technique but his "frontal pressure" (I heckin'g hate that term) is pretty damn lousy for someone who gets a game every week.

I wish he'd just get fitter (clearly it isn't that easy or he would've done it already) and play in the midfield as I've always liked what I've seen from him there ever since he started with us. He just doesn't seem to go there anymore.

Yes Grim

I’ve been waiting for your Moore review so I could grab the popcorn and watch the fireworks.

Our best hope was GC, compo etc... Now we will get nothing.
I do agree with Grim, he isnt a stupid footballer just he tried to recreate himself as a strong player as he had no real speed or agility. So instead of trying to get a tank he tried the bulk up tactic that Josh Hunt used... Didnt work for Moore as he only plods around our Forward line. You can be the smartest footballer on the field but if your body doesnt allow you to keep up what hope is there for you.

Re read Grims comment.:thumbsu:

Everyone has limitations. Sometimes carrying niggling injury effects performance. A new comer might have lamented " I wish ROK would get fitter".... if they only saw this year.;)

Super duper elite fitness (and natural athelic ability) is required for midfield at AFL level... some just fall slightly short of havingthat and it takes years of development (and injury free blocks ) to get the best out of themselves

Yeh I understand that, believe me. I know he has his limitations as do all players and I acknowledged that.

It's just frustrating not seeing him play in the middle at all where I've seen him play well and instead seeing him not contribute as much as he can to this side in the forward line. I do like him as a player and that pass inside 50 to Bradshaw against Brisbane at the SCG should show everyone he has a lot of ability and is a smart footballer. I just think he is being played in a position that doesn't cater to his abilities.

If he has such a good football brain why doesn't he get into positions to receive the ball more than 14 times a game? Tom Rockliff is no athlete but he is already a better footballer than Moore. Having a "good football brain" is not good enough when you are completely lacking in hurt factor, provide poor defensive pressure, and don't score goals.

Tom Rockliff plays in the midfield so obviously he's going to get a lot more of the footy. My use of the term "good football brain" relates more to his usage of the football not how many times he gets it. He is one of the best users of the ball going forward, and sets up his teammates with clever kicks. He has been top 4 in average assists over the past 4 years - no mean feat.

I'm not saying he doesn't have weaknesses, but what I'm trying to point out is his strengths and the reasons why he is in the team as some people think he is getting a free ride.

Good sensible thoughtful reply:thumbsu:

I suggest (as you know) Swans is a team orientented structure. He is given a role like everyone else ( it may not be his 'ideal' or 'preferred' one!)

Hard forMoore to push into too much midfield time when Jude ,Jack, McHaa..Veigh:D, Kennedy, McGlynn even Meredith is IN... then there was also KIRK Goodes and ROK!

He may get his chance yet (in future), he can play some midfield.;)

Well said Balldman!
Pretty much my thoughts on how some people on here think!

We can't trade him because no team in their right mind would take him!

Absolutely useless.

I trust the coaching staff of the Swans to know who our best 22 are.

Moore acts as a catalyst to harden up our forward line. Bless his nuggety bones, his battle hardened cranium and his bulldog charm.

There is alot of talk about Jesse White possibly wanting a trade is this true? I know there is alot of people on the Melbourne board that keep bringing his name up.

Yeah thanks Ben but what about the part where you suggest us supporters believe we have a say on who goes in and out of the team? You know, the part I quoted.

If JESSELENKO:heart: went anywhere, this would be the place to set the big beast about.
Plentiful wide paddocks to roam free and feast on the future silver service of Scully and Trengove.

No power forward should be penned in, or rucked with.
