Autopsy Vs Carl - Is it cricket season yet

Why you all potting Eleni? She was on our side most of the night, helped us guard dangerous space lol. She paid holding the ball like the AFL said they would start of the year, but having said that I didn't really agree with some of them paid because thought the Blues tackles weren't held and we got the handball off. Then other ump let Cerra do a 360 and not immediately dispose of the ball in the last qtr and they got a goal from it.
Don't know wtf holding the ball is anymore, strange decisions. Anyway not at all why we lost.

As frustrating as it is, I have to keep reminding myself that development isn't always linear, this might be a year where our guys take a few steps back.
Not sure its the time to go sacking Noble, far too early imo. Wasn't like Lions and Blues didn't have some 60+ losses during their rebuilds, defintiley remmeber us handing them some big losses couple years back so we just gotta ride it out.

Bonar battled hard but still not convinced he's an AFL defender, maybe he should be tried in centre bounces as a big body.
Same thing with Atu, Young and Mahoney, nothing that screams AFL footballer.
Mahoney puts pressure on but he's not dangerous like Curtis is and doesn't have any elite skills and was a bit fumbly tonight but wasn't alone it that regard. Maybe its too soon to judge him, could he be an inside mid?
Perez you at least see a competitor and decent foot skills but not sure hes a defender long term.
JHF is a competitor but might get a fine or suspension, belted a few blokes tonight and I kinda loved it lol.
CCJ was alright tonight, looks a bit less robotic/coordinated than Xerri. Be interesting if Comben could work with him and Goldy.
LDU was good in one qtr but he's clearly not fit enough to run out 4 qtrs in mdfield, think that's why they shift him forward a lot more, but I wouldn't mind rotating Greenwood and Simpkin a bit more up forward and putting Stevo/Ziebs/TT/Zurhaar in the centre bounces a bit more.
Might as well experiment a bit.

And why does Ziebell fly for the same balls as Larkey. Forwards coach needs to get them to isolate but I guess if I'm a oppo defender I'd probably be coming off my man because our forwards are not leading to dangerous areas and don't really hit the scoreboard that much.

We were a bit stiff with injures - our specialist Cripps tagger, Jared Polec, was unavailable.

If Young and Mahony play next week i might commit myself to a mental facility.

Been a defender of Mahony but his confidence is absolutely shot. Worst I've seen for an AFL player. Fumbled everything.
Too late, we are all mad barracking, hoping and caring about this present North squad

Go back to round 1 I think, LDU gets it does his spin while being tackled, loses the opponent but because he went 360 was pinned. Eleni adjudicated correctly, but the rule is for the toilet.

Just bloody annoys me at how unfit we look. Always chasing, looking tired, taking deep breaths, opposition sprinting past us etc. Been like this for years. Players and coaches must take more responsibility for their fitness levels. Game went exactly as expected, kept up for 2 and a half qtrs then wilted. Defence, considering lack of manpower was valiant. McKay, Curnow, Weitering, Cripps, Walsh is a top shelf top 5. Have been together for 5-6 years now and played their 50-100 games each. This is what hopefully we can eventually achieve.
IMO we look unfit due to our lack of system. We're always chasing the ball carrier. If it's a 4 on 4 contested ball situation, all four of our players run to the man with the ball. The Op handball it between their four, and all four of our guys run to the current ball carrier. The Op are literally standing still handballing around us, and we have 3-4 blokes running in circles trying to impact the current player with the ball. *in exhausting.

Good teams don't do this. Good teams have a system where each player knows where to go. Good teams have players who trust their team mate will go to the right player/spot. Good teams know their team ate will win/at least halve the contest.

We don't. We ball chase, get exposed on overlap, and get exhausted doing it. Then once the ball is out from the contested situation, we're too gassed to chase and it's an easy disposal to a leading player. It's ducking dumb football.

We need to work smarter, not harder IMO.

JHF needs to focus on his skill and play making and not throwing his weight around.

It did not end well for Carey back in 94 when he thought he had to do the same and it won’t end well if JHF continues.

His presence will come with his natural tenacity to get the ball in hand and his disposal with it.

It’s funny that the same rule never gets applied to the so called stars of the comp.

She’s a joke of an umpire. If anyone thinks she is getting a game based on merit, they are delusional.

Unfortunately for us expect to see more of her, because the AFL tries to hide her in games where they think she can’t impact the result with her incompetence.

That umpiring crew totally lost control of that game in the 3rd quarter and it resulted in players most likely getting fines. The remaining two umpires have increased loads due to trying to cover for her as well, which makes them worse.

Time for the AFL to roll out the white curtain on what is failed project.

Pretty sure no one thinks she's getting a game on merit.

Surely we'd go for Clarko ahead of Williams.
Clarko head coach, Williams senior assistant. The reverse of their relationship at Port.
Clarkson will definitively not come to NMFC.

Bookmark this if you doubt me.

I'm here and the Carlton fans were beyond * level of floggishness. They're carrying on like they just won a final, literally booed every decision that went against them and the abuse they just gave our team coming off the ground was disgraceful.
Like Richmond and Dog fans, they have very short memories.

If we don't change back to last year's predominantly blue home jumper our club will never wear blue shorts again.

That away jumper is s**t.

Blue with white stripes home (dark).
White with blue stripes (away).
Throw in bounding roo on occasion.

And that is the joke.

This is meant to be the elite level, not development league.

Well she boosted the AFL Coffers last night, I’m sure their will be a few fines from players that lashed out at pure frustration due to having to put up with her sub standard umpiring.

I'm not blaming the umpire, it's a very poor interpretation they have come up with and one that they couldn't even remotely be consistent with in one game. Other players were more restricted for longer and play was allowed to go on. It looks ridiculous.

Guess I’m in the minority but I didn’t think we got shafted any more than we normally do. Essentially no more or less crap than usual.

It’s really only the Ray Chamberlain level umpiring vs WC in the prelim that leaves me still livid.

Same

Watching from the couch there were bigger issues

I was at the game and didn't think we got hard done by from the umps. I remember thinking there were a few questionable decisions that went our way, to be honest.

When Bergman was on before he got injured, I thought he had a decent crack. Would like to see more of him.

We are incredibly unfit. It is super obvious we are way off it and it is why we haven't been able to sustain those patches we see. It is something that seriously needs fixing.

Bonar and Walker got thrown into the wolves tonight and it was incredibly painful to watch. I will commend their effort. That was tough for them.

Our midfielders couldn't get their hands on the ball because Carlton wanted it more. They should be filthy. Imagine being out-bodied by Carlton...

Turner was okish but want him delisted.

Mahony was horrible and despite his work in stoppages at times, just needs to go back to VFL. Confidence is shot and his hands are soaked in butter.

Taylor was really quiet and he was super frustrated with himself clearly. He will learn from that. I love players with standards.

Jy battled and battled. Just needs support.

Larkey was 'frustrating Larkey'. Just couldn't get separation, when he did, the ball went flying past him and then got into the punchies.

JHF. What more can I say his kicks under pressure put all our senior players to shame.

Young was outmarked and not effective at all.

LDU on the forward flank is criminal and should stop. He demands accountability in the middle. Chucking Greenwood in there doesn't help.

Greenwood rushes the ball forward too often and not to our forwards advantage. A skinnier JZ in the midfield basically.

TT is still not 100% from what I can tell. I don't know what we are doing with him but he's on and off at the moment.

Cam Z was ok and took some good grabs. Crucified by umps unfortunately.

Flynn was ok although I didn't really notice his impact. Persist with him.

The captain had a bad night. Reckon he would've kicked 5 on us if he got Carlton's ball movement in the 2nd half.

Curtis is off to a really promising start. Clever, beautiful set shot, clean....

Thought Scott was ok?

Sleevo had impact but it was essentially when we had confidence in ourselves. His impact drops when the team goes super safe with the ball movement.

Lmac was alright but it was hard for him because at times, he wanted to intercept but because we were so undermanned it just exposed his hesitation. We all knew what he's trying to do but he's hamstrung by Corr and McKay missing out.

Atu came on and zipped at times, but blazed away too. Not sure where he fits in the team.

Goldy is the big what if in the context of our start to the season. He should've been the starting ruck and staying there for most of the night. CCJ is also another one that might've been our exit saviour during our earlier games when we just bombed it down the line. Speaking of which...

We have a tendency to not completely absorb opposition momentum and hit back at them. The kicks down the line returned, and they kept doing it and doing it despite the fact we were effectively gifting the ball back to Carlton flankers sitting behind the pack unmanned. Why on earth do we do this to ourselves? Carlton couldn't defend the middle properly and yet, we kept doing what they wanted. Carlton at times looked like 2021 Carlton that we knew, then we stopped.

We can genuinely beat some teams if we run and carry, and break the lines. I swear there's something we can unleash but we don't do it often enough.

We suck because our football dept has sucked forever and only recently have we started to address it properly.
Lots of good points here.

I would rather LDU running off HB. He can only really run towards the goals not lead up to the play.

On our fitness, I have no idea what excuse the club can legitimately use.

Did you watch the game? That third quarter turned me to drink!
No I got convinced to go to a bar with my co workers😅 so much ****ed s**t happened that I can’t look my co workers in the face ever again😅😅😅😅😅
