Too many scrubs playing AFL

Therefore the AFL should:
1. reduce list size down to 30
2. clubs should have access to recruit replacements during the year to cover long term injury
3. clubs should have no development players on their list - thus few players under age 21.
4. Clubs get priority access to their 18 year old project draftees... but they don't own them... they exist in the VFL or WAFL or SANFL in a common pool. The draftees don't go on your list unless you want them to play immediately and contract.
5. the league should not expand - we don't have to the depth charts to cover more teams.

Or something similar.

Young talent should develop in the state leagues.

With respect..so naive

The majority of young talent still develop in the state leagues anyway, so your suggestion is to remove the AFL-level coaching they receive? And this is to improve the quality of the league?

Do you think that state leagues with little budget would do a better job than AFL clubs? How so?

A Tassie team and the resources required will ultimately affect the growth and investment in AFLW and womens footy in general. Probably likely to result in the AFLW being nothing more than a semi-professional league for another 10-15 years.

I don’t understand. You say there are too many scrubs playing AFL yet you want clubs to have access to state league players to cover injuries? Do you expect the quality of football to improve by having blokes play AFL who were playing state league two weeks earlier? Vs. being in the system all year and already knowing your teammates, game plan etc

If fewer players are in the permanent AFL system, we’ll end up with more scrubs and less skilled football

The last touch rule (kick or handball) on the wings (not inside forward 50) would improve the game, would encourage more teams to go through the corridor.
Last touch rule very meritorious. However I would just add a caveat that a score cannot be kicked directly from the resulting free kick. Except if it’s from an “out on the full” of course.
