Who will finish higher on the ladder - St.Kilda, Melbourne or Bulldogs

In his prime he was in the top 3 or so paid players in the comp (and rightfully so) and you still managed to keep Hayes, Montagna, Goddard, Dal Santo, Fisher, etc happy. Most list managers aren't idiots, we won't force blokes like Stringer or Bontempelli out because of Boyd's deal.

Problem that we had was that because of having so many top players we needed to pay, we didn't have the depth. Arguably our best 5 players in 2009-10 were better than either Geelong's or Collingwood, but their 6-25 were way better than ours.

Look at our GF sides and look at the bottom 5 - McQualter, Jones, Clarke, Eddy, Guilt, Peaked - none of them would have gotten games for either Geelong or Collingwood in those years.

For the Bulldogs, best case scenario with Boyd is that he lives up to his $$. There is still likely to be something to pay in terms of depth, but hell, if he turns into an elite key forward you'll live with that as he'll give you a shot.

Worst case is that he is a GOP - in which case you'll have sacrificed depth for him. Tricky.
