Which player in your club now, or in the recent past do you think "if only..."

It could be because of injury or a single skill deficiency or an attitudinal thing that makes you wonder how good that player could actually be.

The Lions (and now Suns) had Brennan who has an abundance of natural talent but is likely to always be remembered for the player that he didn't become. With that talent he could have been up there with the elite, if only he didn't go missing for games at a time. Sometimes there would be two minutes of sheer brilliance in two hours of "whatever" football.

Josh P Kennedy, if only he showed half of his talent at the hawks as he's showing at the Swans we would've locked him up on a 5 year deal and never let him leave.

Mark Coughlan and Nathan Brown.

Both were amazingly talented players, Coughlan winning a B&F in his 3rd year for the club, would've been captain after Campbell retired. Then injury after injury, and when he was starting to play some consistent footy after almost 5 years of injuries, that campaigner Jade Rawlings pretty much forced him into retirement. He would've been a great leader during that '10 season.

Hopefully the same doesn't happy to Nathan Foley, massively underrated and massively injury prone.

Cooney. Wins a brownlow at what, 22? Then his knee goes. He's been great so far this season though *touch wood*

We haven't really been around long enough, but Dom Tyson missed a lot of last year and will miss a lot this year. All different injuries.

Putting my Geelong members cap on, Daniel Menzel at the moment (hope the scans go ok on Monday). Matty Egan picked in the All Australian in just his third season and never played again missing lots of GFs in the process. Jason Snell only got 68 games before an ankle did him in at the age of 23, a full career for him could have been anything.

Going back further, Barry Stoneham. He at least played again after that horrific leg, but he was never the same.

Kurt Tippett - If only he'd been able to kick straight and actually had been dedicated to the AFC cause rather than a mercenary plick!
