I don't really mean to be rude but if we lose this, **** me

After watching tonight, I hope we don't go into another game with just 1 key defender in Leslie. It ruins our defensive structure.

Our rebounding backs lose their attacking play when they are also trying to cover the opposition key forwards/resting ruckman.

For me, Brooksby must play until May/Thompson return. He and Leslie just need to smash the packs and bring the ball to ground for our runners. Take some pressure off Kolo, Joyce, Harbs & co and let us get our attacking run out of defence back.

Out: Bowes (rested), Fiorini
In: Brooksby, Hanley
(or Lonergan if Hanley still injured).

Theoretically we should be a good match-up against the roos with our speed and ball movement, but who the hell knows what will happen these days. Hopefully the media doesn't rip into them too much this week and get them fired up for this one.
Leslie to get another good test against Ben Brown. Good experience for him.
Will be interesting to see if Goldstein plays (heard the commentators talking about him being sore?). If not Witts V Pruess will be good viewing.

Changes
OUT: Bowes - needs a rest, Swallow maybe? give him a rest.
IN: Lonergan, Brooksby/Shaw (next in line as whipping boy, right?) - unless any of our injured guys are miraculously fit.

I was planning to go but my best friends birthday dinner is that night- luckly its on channel 7

Agree Brooksby needs to come in as the match ups against the Roos will suit him... Preuss/Goldstein (injured his ankle in the last quarter), Daw, Ben Brown, although that Mason Wood kid is the one we will have trouble with, an Adelaide Tom Lynch clone.

Got money on Fiorini for rising star and is an Etihad specialist after last week so let's find someone else to drop... maybe my old whipping boys Lemmens or Matera could have a spell

Unrelated but Ablett was named best for the Suns last night on the Suns App, some journos need to watch the games. Saad was BOG by the length of the Flemington straight, even Rocket said it was probably his best game for the club.

If Rory Thompson gets up for this game then I'm fairly sure the Suns will win. They just need someone to stop the bleeding when the tall forwards get going and Leslie just isn't up to it at this stage.

He's not up to being the only tall key back yes.
FFS he's 21yo in his 8th game with not a Single defender over 190cm to help him out.
Did well in circumstances. Although l don't rate him Brooksby should have played simply for a big body.
PS Thompson and McKenzie are really starting to piss me off with soft tissue injuries that take 3 times longer than the average to get right.

Going in with one inexperienced key backman and no other tall defenders against the most potent forward line in the competition was suicide. Andy Otten shouldn't have had that many shots on goal and a lot of that had to do with undersized guys like Kolodjashnij playing on him. Bring in Thompson so Ben Brown doesn't get hot in front of goal next week and let Leslie play on the relieving ruckman in Preuss/Goldstein. Then Steven May comes back the following week to prevent Tom Hawkins from kicking a bag.

That would be ideal.

Going to be a tough match but North seem to be mentally weak at the moment. Can't say too many of the reserve performance warrant an upgrade to the 1s.
In: Hanley, Thompson,
Out: Bowes, Lemmens,
Lonergan could come in but not sure who for.
In for Rosa.
And Thompson never ever gets up when we really need him to. Big concerns over him.
Fast forward 4 weeks and l reckon the core of our backline will be May Leslie and Scrimshaw.
Thompson and McKenzie can go get injured tripping over grass blades in the NEAFL.

I don't think Thompson will be ready.

Ashcroft was saying likely another 2 weeks the same as May, and then weekly tests.

Leslie/Brooksby will have to hold down the fort against the Roos & the Cats, and then fingers crossed they are back for the China game.

If not they get an extra weeks rest for our bye in Rd9.

Every game this year North have started well then fell off a cliff. It has to be a lack of run and overall fitness. Suns need to run them off their feet. They need to take the game on. The cliff will come sooner if the Suns make the Kangas chase and work harder.

Guess everyone is entitled to own opinion.
Personally I thought Barlow was our best - the ground he covers to make position, the options and contests he makes is unbelievable. I watched him closely all night from end other ground to the other. He could've got 50 disposals if our players could switch play precisely the way Adelaide do.
Saad and Leslie did jobs on their opponents and played well. But Saads game was ruined by his need to continually play on. He was picked off several times Easy goals came from those turnovers.
Ablett - played well - but is still a shadow of his former self regards disposal efficiency.
Fiorini had a night off - hope your right about the return to Etihad....

Ziebell, Brown and Goldstein all under injury clouds for North. Although you don't expect all three of those guys to miss, it could really wreak havoc on any chance North have of winning this one.

Roos have been unlucky, they will beat us by 30+
Ahhh the old Iva is back! Unfortunately even I can't find too much to be optimistic about atm..
From my vantage point last night, guys want to kick fwds but there is just zero movement 30 and 40 metres ahead of the play.. I get that Adelaide zoned up well but we need guys leading to break up the zone... 90% of the time there is no movement a kick ahead of the ball, forcing the ball carrier into the obligatory switch every time.. frustrating!!
I feel sorry for Harbrow, Saad and Kk in particular.. all three did well and tried to spark something... a lot of their mistakes are because of lazy teammates down the ground!
Joyce was good.. plays simple, sees an option, uses it straight away, if the simple option is not on has composure to wait until one presents..
I feel we need the Scrim badly.. or should i say the player Scrim is likely to become... he would be too young right now to play the third tall defender we have desperately needed since for ever.
Ive got more, but i think i must have something in my eye... sob!

Adelaide is ridiculous, we still kicked a good score against them. We will be up to this game to our eyeballs. Young Roos coming off a WA trip, run them off their feet. Defence will still be an issue but we aren't matching up against Adelaide's stellar forward line.

Essendon scored two more points than us the week before and still lost by 60 odd as well, i just think that's how the crows play. This one will again be won and lost in the midfield i'd say.

Yeah, be interesting to see the Ins and Outs this week. Could see someone like Sexton going out.

With Thompson and May probably not getting up for this game, we will need to stick with our defence. Our midfield was leading centre clearances before this round. NM rebound will be no where near the levels of Adelaide. I am confident going into this game. Would love another break out game for Ah Chee, 5 sausage rolls for him is a good start. This is also the type of game Matera and Hall will look to dominate.
