No team is better without Wines. Let alone Robbie Gray. That's just so one eyed.

Port going 100% wins this year without Wines and 40% with him.
Rockliff down from 40 disposal to 30 since Wines back in (not including the game he got injured. )

If the ball is coming in well, he's an impossible player to match up on. He's what Tippet should have been and did show very small glimpses of. At their bests, absolutely unstoppable. No one has the size and strength to go with them. Both also could ruck capably too.

He'd be the first "impossible player to match up on" and "absolutely unstoppable" player to never kick 50 goals in a year then.

Tip managed that in his second year of footy.

I think your side is better off without Wines, not saying he wouldn't fit in beautifully at other clubs but Rocky who plays a similar role has looked his best for you guys when Wines has been out.

I agree the balance isn't right. At all.

Both of us definitely have the similar problem of too many same same types in the middle. I'm glad Port in the off season atleast tried to address it (despite losing Polec) by injecting kids, and long term I think that's been a great move.

But Wines is undoubtedly in the 22, when he's fit again, he'll have a lot to prove.

I just watched the replay of the freo game (someone had too!)... and yep, it was still as woeful to watch as the first time I watched it.

Anyway.. Gibbs wasn’t as bad as I first thought, was still pretty bad but not horrible... but **** me, Atkins, mookay, knight and Gallucci were deadset useless. Junk possessions when they actually got the ball, shite hospital handballs that put their own team mates under instant pressure, jogging after their opponents watching them break away with ease, so many of their kicks resulting in turn overs and god only knows how many times Atkins and mookay just get brushed aside in the contest (knight and gooch not so much). Atkins and mookay crumble under the slightest pressure.

Three out of four of these lads are rubbish. Their complete and utter horridness seriously made that game so much harder for the rest of the team to get that win. They further increased the pressure on their team mates on top of what pressure freo was already applying.

Gooch I’m willing to give a little leeway... he should’ve been left in the sanfl for a couple more weeks to find more form... but I’m so sick of seeing the names of the other three each and every week when the efforts they gave in that freo game are ultimately pretty much par for them in most games.

When brown, Seedsman and Milera return mookay, Atkins and knight need to never play for us again.. with any injured players moving forward that could be filled by these three instead replaced with our youth like jones, Ned, scholl etc etc. we will never be a top 4 side again still clinging to these lads on the back of them doing a good thing every now and then or good form they may have had way back in the past.

Murphy really wasn’t that great either to be honest... long term I think he should be replaced by stengle although I think the club sees stengle as the Eddie replacement. But at least Murphy gives 110%.. you never see him give up and you never see him jogging after his opponents when they have the ball.

Honestly I would froth at the mouth if jones, mchenry, stengle replaced knight, Atkins and mookay this week... but we know the apricot slice brigade won’t do it. Too conservative... too stubborn.... too piss weak.

Also.. Gooch, get rid of that stupid moe ffs, it looks utterly ridiculous and is only seen as something “trendy and out there” by a small minority of hipster *******s.. concentrate more on the football and less on your facial hair you clown.

If all fit which of Ollie, SPP, Boak, Drew and Rocky fall out of your best 22 to have a more balanced midfield with only three of these guys.

For me it is Drew and Ollie. SPP at least tries to create play. Boak and Rocky are far better inside mids than any of the five.

Yeah that's all well and good, but you mocked Wines for being in a list that includes the best players in the competition.

Usually the answer is no, what you see is what you get.

But Dixon in the fwd line is still going to take the oppositions best defender, and more often than not 2.

However, I think we can agree that Dixon wouldn't share the big negative you could put on Tippet in that he doesn't use his weight to his advantage. Dixon is overdosed on Angry pills, Tippet wouldn't get his finger nails dirty...

That wasn't me saying it, and between their 70 possessions they wouldn't have hold a candle in effectiveness to say Rory getting 20.

That's not me mocking them, it's just obvious that some players are infinitely more damaging with far less touches. Rocky clearly being Port's equivalent.

The best season of Dixon's career he couldn't crack 50 goals. He'll eventually come back as a 108 kg 30 year old from a pretty significant injury. Yet some still talk of him as if he were Carey.

I remember the commentators jizzing over him in one Showdown when he did absolutely **** all. Jenkins had a better game ffs, but all they could talk about was how Dixon was "providing a contest" and "bringing the ball to ground", aka not taking marks.

Given our issues with a one dimensional midfield is something you have the same issues with (post Cameron and no Milera in particular), I know I'd rather have bigger bodies in the likely wet vs Crouch*2 and Sloane.

Blame the coach, won't argue, Boak is a midfielder, Rocky just took time to adjust and without Ryder for much of last season it's no surprise a clearance machine didn't get settled... and how much that changed with Ryder/Lycett this season isn't a surprise at all.


Gray at 90% is still better than most in the league. 2 years younger than Betts too, with a year off on a knee which could go either way as far as longevity.


And before your last 3 wins many Crows fans were calling out for the lack of contests that Jenkins/Tex provide. Something that Dixon does, EVERYTIME. It's not always about goals. It's what he offers the side structurally. He's invaluable to us, and without Marshall this year we lost 2 games we probably would have won had Dixon or Marshall played.


Put both on the trade block this season, Dixon fetches far more. Age a part of that, but form is a part too.

According to our away strip, white is one of our colors so Navy Blue and white prison bars, maybe with yellow arm hole rings and a red collar. I don't want to see them wear it on the field but would be a good piece of merch to sell before showdowns.

Why on earth would we want to mimic ports guernsey in any way?????
