Sets a dangerous precedent. If you legally bump someone into another player and that player sustains an injury you can now be suspended.

This may only apply if you play for West Coast though.

It’s little **** like this that really pisses me off. The outward corruption, the back room deals, scheduling VFL powerhouses to play at the MCG 100 times in a row - all of that is almost impressive in how blatant it is.

Would it kill you to use the correct logo of your reigning premiers on your official pages?
Like last years minor premiers richmond get a double up game against the wooden spoon team carlton because of attendance and ratings ?

Yeah - that reminds me that the MCC couldn't afford a new WCE logo flag on the top of the MCG during GF week last year.

1st vs 18th - the season opener we’ve all been clamouring for because...uh...because!

Protection of the head is sacrosanct, well unless it's a interstaters head, shoulda just played a video of Bellends head shot and said how is that not intentional, we rest our case campaigners

Would he have been let off if we weren't playing a struggling VIC scum team this weekend?

The VFL would be concerned with only having two Vic teams in the top 8. Hawthorn are only two games outside the top 8 and they’ve just taken away one, if not our most important player the week we play them. Freo and Port also copped suspensions and they’re looking vulnerable at 7 & 8 on the ladder with Ninthmond, Bombers, Saints, Hawks & Norf all just outside the 8.

Meanwhile Bellchambers gets off for his high intentional hit on Shuey and Clark didn’t get anything for a sling tackle v Port. It will be interesting to see whether or not Walters will be the first(?) unlucky player this season to have his suspension upheld based on the action and not the outcome.

It didnt seem like he had much of a chance. They always seem to give punishments based on the outcome, and Guelfi did go to hospital after all.

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks maybe Barrass is not right to play this week so we threw a hail mary at Gov getting off?

No way, there was no initial high contact, there was no intent and Guelphi didn't suffer concussion or structural injury. Guelphi came back onto the field of play and was crunched in a heavy tackle about 5 minutes after he came back on, that's when Doctors took him off.

Just because the Doctors took him off, doesn't mean he was actually injured either. Woosha said as much after the game 'If he'd been in Melbourne we'd have sent him in for a scan on Monday if he was still sore"

On top of that it happened inside the field of play, while Guelphi was in possession of the ball

The decision is a dark day for footy, but importantly it's another suspect suspension for a West Coast player given by Michael Christian. He has shown bald-face prejudice when choosing to suspend WC players, and yet happy to fine players from other teams for the same or worse conduct.

Its laughable that walters even got reported . Nothing in it at all

Gov won't get off.

Eagles QC:
No head high contact as clearly the push was in the back.
No concussion to indicate high contact.
No medium impact as no injuries whatsoever.
Push was legitimate attempt to put player off his kick, within the field of play and within the rules of the game.
Misplaced chair not within Gov's duty of care
Trip to hospital was unnecessary given no injuries identified at the ground or hospital.

AFL QC:
Yeah, but Guelfi went to hospital.

Suspension upheld due to overwhelming evidence and compelling arguments presented by the prosecution.

Called it.
POTY nomination please.

I'm watching VFL 360 and Gerard Whately and Mark Robbo tried their best to get the Jack Reiwoldt and Jordan Lewis to agree with the tribunal but they weren't having it. The players feel Gov was hard done by.

Interesting how Whately just changes the subject when he knows he is losing an argument.

No real surprise.

VFL getting very worried............. six of the current top eight are interstate teams........... can't have that.

Dastardly deeds being plotted and schemed, in the bowels of VFL House, to manipulate, influence and rectify the status of such a poor showing of Victorian teams in the top 8.

Slight of hand and Intervention, be it fair or foul , you have to admit that the VFL have been consistent with this modus operandi for decades.

Lets be honest VFL House, is really just one giant used and overflowing colostomy bay.

Oh well what do you do?

On the positive side a week break at this time of the year is invaluable to Gov.

I'd imagine the opposition will now bomb it away into their forward line, and Hurn and Shep should pick a lot off.

Midfielders play like they did against Essendon, stifling any play that Hawthorn has, and the addition of Nic Nat.....

Should be all good

Why do we keep engaging david grace? He's a joke.

He seems to try to get the charge thrown out rather than reduced. The overwhelming evidence at the tribunal is reduction in penalty (from suspension to fine) rather than completely throwing it out.

Argued all about whether it was rough contact, but didn't attack the grading. Clearly should have argued that it needed to be corrected to body contact, medium impact - or high contact low impact. It was a bet each way (not surprising from an ex collingwood player) and should have been highlighted.

Also, is it completely ludicrous to question a medical report? Pretty sure this is the 3rd time that we have had a player suspended due to an opposition concussion where their player has flown home on the normal flight (same day or next day) - at least call the AFL on the atrocious duty of care that is in place there - any hint of concussion they should hold the player back for a couple of days.
