we are a mile away from a flag. trending in the right direction. But you need a core group of 23-30 year old strong hardened senior AFL players (as in 15-18 of them) along with 5-6 A graders and we aren't near that currently.

We are getting there, and investing through the draft, while it won't make a big difference next year or even the following one, it means that when we do enter that premiership window (i think probably from 2022 onwards) we can have a sustained period of success rather than pulling the ripcord this year and hoping Daniher is the second coming of Buddy.

Will you be emailing the club with your thoughts in 2022 if that's not the case ?

We need Daniher because Franklin probably has 20-30 games left him in and we lost a number of games this year because of his absence. Not that we would have made the 8 but we could have finished higher.

If a player of Daniher’s ability wants to come to Sydney we should make it happen within reason.

Midfielders grow on trees while key forwards don’t.

Have told you before and won't tell you again ! There is no place for speaking sense on this Board !

The other thing that keeps getting ignored is that most people harping on about not wanting Daniher want us to pick up Serong.

Serong is 178cm. Campbell is also 178cm. Gulden is 172cm. We just going to build a midfield full of short people?

If you think we can shoot back into contention, adding players like Daniher is exactly what we SHOULD be doing.

This is completely unsubstantiated. You don't need your list to be centred around any age bracket. You need your list to be better than the lists of opposition sides. Daniher is a step towards achieving that and gives us a lethal forward line.

Look at our 2012 side and all the guys we traded. Remind me which one of them was a big-name recruit on a big contract? Richards? Mattner? Shaw? Mumford? Kennedy? McGlynn? Morton? They were no-fuss players who either became stars under our system, or remained no-fuss players who complimented the guns, like Goodes, O'Keefe, Hannebery, Malceski, Jetta and Grundy etc.

The way I see it, we have future guns on our list right now. Take your pick from any one of Heeney, Mills, Florent, Hayward, Dawson, Aliir, Blakey, Rowbottom, Hewett. Even if only half of them become guns, that's still a decent position to be in. What they need around them now, and particularly will need down the road, is less average players and more of those no-fuss players we so successfully brought in a decade ago. Clarke, Fox, Thurlow, Rose, etc. aren't much depth-wise, so we have to keep trying and find some diamonds in the rough. Thinking along the lines of adding names like Sier, Cutler, Bennell etc to compliment those future guns is where our focus should be. Not on just landing one "superstar" who will end up costing us one or two of those guns in a few years time anyway.

You do realise there are more than one way to create a Premiership-winning list, right? Richmond brought in Prestia and Lynch on big bucks and they've been pretty successful. Hawthorn brought in McEvoy and Frawley and gave them decent paychecks. The Bulldogs brought in Tom Boyd.

You're also assuming we have players of Richards, Mattner, Shaw, Mumford, Kennedy and McGlynn's caliber wanting to join us. Remind me caeser, how many AFL-standard players have sought a trade to Sydney in the past 5 years? It's not like we haven't sounded any out either (Watts, Moore, Langdon). Cutler has made it clear he wants to move to Melbourne even though we were interested in him. You're assuming we haven't spoken to blokes like Sier. Bennell could still come here. But the fact of the matter is, not everyone wants to actually play for the Swans. Shock horror.

By the way, our 2014 team was probably actually stronger than our 2012 team. Don't let the fact that we shat the bed on the big day take away from the fact that we were a better side for the majority of 2014. And guess what? That came off the back of signing two players that were on close to $1 million a season.

What's to see? An inflammation that isn't there because he hasn't been playing football and just been running gentle laps.
There's a reason Joe and his management want the money now, and not next season, and it ain't the fair Sydney weather.

Daniher run over your cat? :p

It's a professional league. If our list management team, CEO, and I'm presuming a host of other board members are played for chumps by Daniher and his manager, we have much bigger problems at the club than the prospect of Joe's dodgy groin.

all you do is hang sh*t on people who you don't agree with. congratulations on being a troll.

That's not true, Only people who keep repeating themselves post after post. Just wait till trade period is over until you throw the rest of your toys out of the cot. While you are at it Answer the question, will you be voicing the same opinion in 2022 if you get your wishes for more youth and the list treads water and the club is no closer to a premiership ? Troll ? Give us a spell.

Same people want big bodied midfielders...those 3 are hardly that!
Obviously the answer to our midfield problems is working towards a midfield which is a combined 60cms shorter than the competition's best midfields, Mick!

Daniher in, Papley out, Blakey to the midfield so we have a midfielder as tall as Cripps?

Yes there are other ways, because you need superstars to win a premiership. My point is I think we already have them, they're just not there yet. Which is why patience is needed IMO.
