List Mgmt. The 2020 Trade and Draft Thread

Serious cracks in the GWS dam wall this morning.

You won’t hear this publicly, but huge pressure mounting on Leon Cameron. GWS board (and quietly the AFL too) that Giants won’t win a flag with an original player in their list. Players who were previously untouchable may be on the table. One of Whitfield/Kelly could go. Jeremy Cameron their priority.

Waiting on confirmation on some details about the Viney sitcho. Apparently was asked to take a lower previous deal involving captaincy which he no longer has.

Here’s some of the talk that’s being floated.

2021 1st more likely to go than stay.
Crows coming hard for Sparrow.
Viney expected to stay but will cost the club more cash than allowed for.
Gunston and I. Smith being looked at.
Finlayson discussed.
Sydney & Freo asking about AVB (he’s not keen).
Preuss doesn’t want to leave but an offer might be too good to refuse. Offers as high as a late first and early second been discussed.
No interest in Brayshaw
Jones won’t be pushed but knows a rookie is all that will be offered.
KK won’t be paid out but is likely finished (pending a few more tests after his current spell)

The club is in talks with Bennell. Sounds like there is discussion around locking him in longer for less. Similar to Brayshaw a few years with his head. Do you take more years for less or less for more? Either way he’ll be sticking around.

Polec is the second most hated player in AFL behind Cotchin and no noise on this yet (don’t expect there to be).

Keep in mind that a lot of trades will sound better than reality. Given how compromised this draft will be, the first round could go 25-28, second round 50 etc.

in your view is there anyone from GWS we are likely going after?

I'd love to ship AVB off personally.

Really want us to target some more half forward types. Big weakness in the list with Hannan/Fritsch/Melksham/Vanders either looking cooked or incredibly inconsistent.
well you can get ****ed with that rubbish. AVB should be player coach

We always have a lot of discussions with GWS. They are easily our strongest trade relationship.

We’re into Williams and Finlayson.
Would imagine we enquire about Perryman. Caldwell or Hately for some mid speed maybe.

Devastating Boris how could LC be under pressure when he was re-signed two weeks ago?

One of Williams/Perryman and Gunston into this side would instantly make us significantly more balanced and dangerous. Would happily sacrifice Viney to get Williams via FA, and then trade Hawthorn our second (not theirs) for Gunston.

Think we need to persist with AVB. If people really value an enforcer, he's the man who plays that role more so than Viney.

Would be happy to move Hannan on for a pick in the late 30s or 40s, just don't think he'll ever make it with us but would be a good piece for a club that needs a medium target.

He signed for two years, which basically means he has to get it right next year and questions are now being asked of their list. If they miss finals next year, he goes. He’s had more Ferrari’s at his disposal than any coach in history. A two year extension means nothing as a coach.

The thing with GWS is they have to work harder than any club to stay viable. The AFL can’t afford for them to drop off again into a rebuild without winning a premiership.

the only thing that feels weird is a dude from NSW wanting to move to vic- maybe he’s from the Murray I should check

We don't have our 2020 second. Freo has it.

A late first for Pruess. 😂😂😂

Your voices in your head sources are taking the piss mate. Of course we are trading him if a late first is on the table, there is literally nothing to "discuss"

If we are able to trade him for anything better than a third rounder I'll consider it a miracle.

Get Viney pick. Trade Viney pick + added currency for Zak Butters.

Smh.... And why on earth would port entertain trading a future gun? What is in it for them? Use your brain.

What's Sparrows trade value? I would trade him personally

Late first for Preuss is dreamtime stuff zero chance it happens

In fairness, it is a heavily compromised draft and as DB said the first round could go 25+. Personally, I agree that Preuss isn’t worth a pinch of s**t, but he could have value to a team that needs a ruck.

If they get anything above a third that’s almost as good as getting frost out the door for a second, if they swing a first all is forgiven and Mahoney should instantly be signed for life
