We should all eat exactly the same meal as Chicago1 for this week, at exactly the same time
I'm thinking of ordering that Thai Seafood pizza I had one time or possibly make a pig knuckle and sauerkraut meal again. Still think your idea is a good one? :p

In round 23 against Port, Young had 77% time on ground. Against Brisbane, only 53%

Also in round 23:

Lewis Young: 13 hitouts
Bont: 4 hitouts
English: 1 hitout

Port:

Lycett: 40 hitouts
Dixon: 6 hitouts
Ladhams: 5 hitouts

Did that translate into any stoppage or clearance win for Port? Let’s see:

Clearances: 35-28 Port’s way
Centre clearances: 9-9 equal
Stoppages: 26-19 Port’s way

Judging from the numbers above, one could make the argument that English not rucking (Even late in the game as he did against Brisbane) was one of the main reasons for our loss, as this affected our clearance and stoppage work, especially late in the game.

Why do we stand a decent chance this week you ask?

1. Young increasing his time in the ruck. We basically only played with one ruckman against Port in round 23. This will mean a fresher English.

2. English actually rucking this game. The blueprint for success is there. Don’t let him ruck until late in the game, use him forward until then.

3. Treloar into the middle: Bont will
Most likely play forward. Bont make sure Allir doesn’t mark as much as he did against Geelong, and we hopefully get a burst midfielder back with confidence.

4. Dunks to tag Wines: Wines is 4th in the league for contested possessions, with 14.70 a game. Boak is 15th with 13.14 contested possessions a game. Their next best? William Drew sitting at 66th for contested possessions a game, averaging 9.9 contested possessions. We have Libba at 6th with 13.65, Macrae at 10th with 13.46 a game, Bont at 11th in the league for contested possessions at 11.21 a game, and Dunks at 57th with 9.77 a game (However, only 13 games for the year)

If Dunks manages to quell Wines and Drew tags out Libba (Assuming Treloar in the middle helps with our contested possessions) we will beat Port in a contested game. This is important, as when Port lose the contested possessions count, they usually lose the game. Can’t find the exact statistic, but it’s around somewhere 😂

Believe, ladies and gents. We are up to our eyeballs in all this. 2 more games until glory 🏆

I think a more reasonable assumption is Treloars down on himself for poor form. But hey you do you!

Yeah Treloar has anxiety problems; a common form of anxiety is imposter syndrome where you doubt your abilities and feel like a fraud that doesn't deserve good things.

My grandfather passed away last year. While he wasn’t conscious when I went to see him that last day, I do remember the smile he gave in his sleep when I told him that the Dogs would win it for him. While the Dogs didn’t salute in 2020, they will this year. He was a member for 74 years. He knew another flag was close. Sometimes, you just need to know, to believe. All the Doggies players do. Let’s get it done! Go dogs!

Your Grandmother says it was 71 years :)

As a 15 year-old he went to the 1954 Grand Final. I have his Footy Record, with seven marks for each of Jack Collins's goals.

Have experienced it myself at work. Becomes a cycle of thinking

I think his ability to play multiple roles is why we should keep him in the 22. In fact, starting 18.

His goal to put us in front showed confidence in his abilities and an ability to think clearly, when two Lions were ready to eat the Christian.

... A good option for the sub could be Josh Schache as he can play forward, ruck or back.

There was a fair bit of context around that sentence which you seem to have ignored.

Ah great. One photo of him smiling proves that we have nothing to worry about. All of a sudden I can't seem to recall all the footage I saw of him sulking last weekend.

Geez, to assume he was sulking is harsh. Probably wrong, too, in my opinion.

Yeah, not a good look (the On the Couch footage), but I reckon he's just had a really bad game. I'm betting he's as disappointed with his performance, and probably agrees with some of the media coverage.

I don't think OtC commentators were saying he was sulking as such. Unprofessional behaviour? I'd agree with that assessment, in a pinch.

Out-Flea 😢
In-McNeil

potentially go down the Sweet road as the young to wear down the starting ruck like the last 2 weeks doesn’t work with Ladhams. People are quick to forget Treloar had 28 touches 2 weeks ago on wing and on ball for some reason wasn’t thrown in the centre once. Laith and Roarke play their roles simple as that
In Neils last final at Adelaide oval was best on ground in a grand final 😀

FWIW, if you think I purposely ignored any 'context' I apologise, for that was not my intent, nor to criticise your assessment.

It was a good post, actually.

If Martin does play, we will need Young as the medical sub

So it would be

Out: Cody Young (sub)
In: JJ Martin
That'd make me a bit nervous about losing a small to injury. Tend to think a small versatile sub would be better, and if Martin goes down send English to ruck.

Nah no need to apologise, all good! I'd be keen to discuss options for the medi sub in the context of Martin coming in and Bont moving forward. It didn't seem to be considered in your post is all, so I wasn't sure how to progress any discussion.

I did agree that, if not in that specific situation, I'd like Schache to stay in the team as I like what he provides.

If Martin were to come in, it is a risk from a health perspective. I like the flexibility Schache would provide as sub in that situation as opposed to Young who is limited positionally, despite that being the more obvious choice probably.

Actually, I did agree with just about all of your post (I think I 'liked' it), and can see why you would think I took a portion of it out of context (I quite clearly did), but I just wanted to comment on one part of it.

I'll revisit your post and return to you :)

He was sulking. I don't need Jonathon Brown or Gary Lion to validate my opinion. I didn't watch that show, I watched the game.
