Worth keeping in mind that during our 2016 finals series Libba apparently barely walked during the week, Caleb and Boyd had busted shoulders, Morris had fractures in his back and Roughead was touch and go for the GF.
I don’t think you can take someone in if they aren’t fit enough to run out the game, but every club is playing injured players right now.
If Martin can get around the ground and give a good show for half the ruck contests, he’d be better than Young. If he’ll be huffing and puffing after 10 mins maybe not.

Don't think they have ever ruled him out. He was seen deep in conversation with Bont yesterday. Also today a long conversation with Bev and King. A few whispers from Barkly St way that he has been told to get ready. I reckon he will play.

I’ve got out of bed the morning of game barely able to walk and played without any issue, pains easy to deal with as long as you can still move reasonably well. No player playing for any team this week will be feeling good and plenty will have issues that no one knows about.

I’m really feeling like Martin plays this week. So many sources sounding so confident that he is in. 53% time on ground for Young, with something like 4% in the last quarter, when we needed every single player to contribute. Just seems so odd.

Tom Morris from AFL tonight suggesting that Martin is likely to be selected. Not sure how accurate that is. Any similar rumours elsewhere? Bont was moving slowing from the footage provided on that show.

Biggest thing that will help us is the rain.
Port have a far taller forward line than us, and their smalls have less chance to cut us to ribbons from ground balls in the wet. Roarke Smith and Bont destroyed Port in the wet some years ago.

From memory Schache had a blinder that match. It bucketed down like I've rarely seen before, yet he marked it like it was dry conditions.
If Bont is not fully fit but plays, guessing he goes forward meaning English goes to ruck and Young is omitted. JJ holds his spot and Garcia comes in for Weightman.

Indeed he did. Port play well in the wet too, but we are the best wet weather side in the competition. Who knows, maybe it has something to do with training at VUWO. Was wet against Essendon and look what happened. Could have been a different game if it was dry all match. As soon as the rain came, it was like a switch was flicked and we just ran over the top of them.

Have to take punt with Martin. If he's cooked by 3qt just sub him out. If we have to sub someone else out earlier we do what we did with Young and just give him one small burst in the last
