Should be paying precisely zero if it's only pick 27 and even then we're basically giving away Grundy for free, especially in comparison to Luke Jackson getting Melbourne potentially 2 x first round picks.

Grundy is a bloody 2 x AA ruckman who was only BOG in the last game he played before getting injured, Jackson is an un and down ruck/forward in his early 20's who had a good game in a grand final a year ago and was consistently average at best this year.
Lol. Grundy has been average for 2 years, and played one good quarter against the bombers. He's also getting old and on a huge wage. Jackson is a pick 3 who's played pretty much every game he could including a strong showing in a premiership. Off the beers!

Jackson is a comprehensively better player than Grundy was at the same age

A lot of panic over what we're getting back for Grundy, but at the same time expecting to give up little for Mitchell.

Mitchell is only 1 year older, a Brownlow medalist and coming off a 21 game season.

I'm not really interested in Mitchell, but you'd think the price for he and Grundy would be fairly similar. I guess rarity of player type comes into it.

Pick 27 will be 30 after father sons and academy picks. We always pay overs and get bent over in return.
Always. Well except for Wellingham, Dawes, Lumumba, Cloke, Beams, Fasolo, N Brown, Anthony, Freeman, Roughead, Dunn, Lipinski, Crisp, Howe, Varcoe, Adams, L. Brown, Medhurst, Ball, current GC pick swap...

LOL, Parish is exactly the player the Pies need. He averaged 6th in the competition overall for contested possies and Collingwoods best is Brodie Grundy at 35 - who won't even be at Collingwood next season it seems

The whole group defensively was terrible. He did however, seem to always step up against the pies. If we can't back our team to find elite talent with top 7 picks then we are in trouble. I do get your point about wanting someone ready to go now though.
Agree on the rest, but I think the bolded is less straight forward. There might be a clear top 5, the picks might fall against us and I think the need to invest early draft is diminishing year on year. High end picks are just a shot at a good player so if the choice is there I think you just invest in the known quantity.

If there’s one thing the player movement is telling us in 2022 with Geelong likely to bring in 3 former first round picks in the first half of their career you can get that high end talent without necessarily going to the draft.

Was he really though?

Yes they are only stats, but they do speak to output on ground to some degree and Grundy was basically in a time share with Witts in a team on the decline in comparison to a Melbourne at their peak, but he (Grundy) was still showing enough for us to go with him and trade away Witts in 2016.

Except the length of contract….

Can you post the definition of a contested possession from CD, just curious if it’s like Coxs contested mark stat.

He does in terms of offensive running but he'd gave to buy into the defensive side.

Imo he has talent but lacks work rate to play both ways. Something that can be changed with coaching and fitness.
If he's replacing Henry then we're probably upgrading on defensive running.

Agree though, there are some application concerns. Our game plan does need offensive minded mids though. Would depend who we play on whether we need to add to the mix. Daicos x2, De Goey, already fairly strong.

I see Thomas as more potentially line breaking and only comparable with De Goey (maybe Naicos gets there too). As a mid/forward we could rotate him with Jordy.

Think its unlikely anyway. We've got enough targets, hard to add another on the fly.

Grundy was the worst kick on the team. Jackson is a class user and finisher, with so much growth to come.

Scodog10 JB007 said our Target next year is way better then Parish
Tom Green? Naughton? On a more serious note the 😂 was for JB he’s like a weed they can’t get rid of him and this is why people need to have more faith in the club moving Grundy…
