No it doesn't, it has Grundy clearly ahead in the key stats for a ruckman, Grundy is a ruckman and Jackson is a ruck/forward, I personally don't think Grundy is a good fit for Melbourne but him in 2015 was superior to Jackson in 2022. I'm not really sure what the point of the argument is though because Melbourne are going to at least get two first round picks for Jackson while we will be lucky to get pick 27 while we have to pay 1.5 million for Grundy to play elsewhere so obviously Jackson is much more highly sought after in AFL circles
Key stats as in hitouts and clearances? There's more to being a ruck. That's while Jackson was sharing ruck duties with the best ruck of the modern era, and Grundy was sharing with below par Witts

Can trades be done overnight or just between “business hours?”

The afl officials are only there between 9am and 5pm. That obviously doesn't stop clubs from negotiating their way to a final deal overnight though ready for submitting the next morning.

Totally and right now the expectation is he’s not into full training until post Xmas I believe, but what happens when all three plus Macrae and Carmichael are fit? Two can play at senior level max. For me Hopper makes sense because he’s a long term solution to that Adams dilemma and one that you just back in if a hard decision is needed. I think the end solution is Mitchell in the guts and Adams in a similar role to Graham which is akin to Grundy and Gawn in the same 22… That’s a bad outcome for all involved except Mitchell, IMO.
I’m happy for Macrae and Carmichael to remain as depth, you need a deep midfield to get through the season. Agree with rest.

All that does is support my case tbh

Jackson ahead in goals, contested marks, effective disposals/disposal efficiency, marks inside 50, clangers, centre clearances, inside 50's and intercepts. Practically every key metric has Jackson ahead.

You can have Grundy's superior turnover rates and hitouts to opposition advantage

You don't even have a case - leaning on disposal efficiency, and 0.1 goals more per game plus some F50 stats for Jackson when he played 65 - 70% of his game time forward is hilarious.

Seriously pass around some of what you're smoking mate because it must be good s**t.

p.s. This is all in the context of your assertion that Jackson is considerably better now than Grundy was back then, which he most certainly wasn't no matter how you try to twist the stat's around to make your case.

Thanks.

Wait. Does that mean clubs can log overnight and be received by officials at 9am?

Or strictly lodging between 9-5?

Only lodged during business hours. West Australian teams being the exception I think (up to 5pm their time) but even they fly into town for the last day or two of trade period if they have deals still needing to be finalised close to the trade period deadline.

I doubt they'd walk him.

A trade would be struck but we'd be negotiating from a position of weakness.

A deal will be done with Geelong.
Cant see this playing out any other way
Think it’s been awhile since a player has been walked to the PSD?

I think Cheesy was the last player we got via the PSD?

Hately from GWS to Adelaide and Martin from GCS to Carlton are two recent ones

We done quite well with Cheap Players
We've done quite well with cheap players who have never before had a shot at AFL footy - like Noble, Johnson, Cox and Mihochek - and players close to the end of their AFL career - like Roughead. I guess Lipinski and Cameron came cheap from other clubs, although Cameron had never been given a game at senior level by Sydney. Cameron showed in the second half of the season why Sydney was prepared to let him go cheaply.

Frampton may prove to be an inspired draftee, but he comes to us with deficiencies which seem to contradict the reason for getting him - he does not seem like someone who is going to negate a big forward and free up our other intercept players.

Cheap players can paper over cracks, but we really need a class big forward and defender, and they won't come cheaply.

Those late 3rd rounders seem to be getting less in value every day. Out to 50 and 51 now.
Yea and it looks like now we're going to be stuck with them whilst trading a future 3rd round in a deeper draft where we've already given away our second. The only upside of trading out of our 2nd and 3rd rounds next year is that it means we can't do something stupid like trading away our future first which I wouldn't put past our list management team.

What's the bet we'll end up being stuck with these picks and passing on them on draft night due to lack of list spots.

It will be disappointing if we pay $300k pa and not get at least a 1st rounder for him.
I'd rather pay nothing and get pick 60.
This is just the point, statically I imagine not much better off with a 30’s pick ( after bids and compensation picks). We’d be better off keeping the 300k and luring a gun
